Truist’s Supplier Diversity Director – ESG is responsible for serving as a supplier diversity leader and SME in supplier diversity and sourcing sustainability focus areas responsible for working directly with the TSSM Category Director and teams to drive increased inclusion and spend with certified minority-, women-, veteran-, LGBT-, disabled-owned and small businesses in the company’s geographic footprint.
In addition, the SD Director-ESG works closely with Truist’s Corporate Social Responsibility team to assist the Chief Supplier Diversity Officer with ensuring that ESG practices, metrics and reporting are operationalized within Truist’s supply chain processes with all suppliers.
The Supplier Diversity Director - ESG accomplishes this by using various methods, databases and partner organization networks and memberships to identify, vet and mentor capable diverse suppliers who can provide goods and services that meet and sometimes exceed our businesses expectations.
- Serve as a SME point of contact/respondent for program stakeholders (diverse businesses, suppliers, Truist teammates and partner organizations) on assigned source-able spend categories where diverse suppliers are present or can be included or developed as directed by the Chief Supplier Diversity Officer.
- Track Monitor, track and analyze the inclusion & status of MWBE and diverse suppliers in sourcing events (RFIs/RFPs) and provide suggestions and improvements for improved identification and inclusion strategies of diverse suppliers in categories where gaps may exist.
- Act as the relationship manager/lead for specific supplier diversity advocacy organizations within their assigned geographical and diversity classification groups and areas.
- Partner with Truist Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Community Development, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) internal teams to represent the supplier diversity and participate in external and internal events that promote and foster the growth of diverse suppliers.
- Proactively work with sourcing, corporate social responsibility and internal partners to set and drive the organization\'s approach to supply chain ESG (environmental and social governance) with the goal to minimize the company’s environmental impact, measure and share success stories and improve Truist’s reputation in the marketplace.
- Act as a premier advocate for the inclusion of diverse suppliers and small business development with internal and external stakeholders.
- Regularly attend and actively participate in supplier (diverse and prime) quarterly business reviews to drive program compliance ascertain, review and promote Tier1 and Tier2 spend opportunities.
- Partner with internal teams whose objectives and or work streams may include the development of small businesses (CRA, employee resource groups, multicultural and business banking, foundation etc…).
- Mentor certified diverse suppliers to ensure a future pipeline of capable suppliers for inclusion in our supply chain.
- Drive diverse supplier utilization with primes participating in Tier2 program. Educate and train supplier diversity, sourcing, diversity & inclusion, ESG, and other teammates or business units on applicable supplier diversity and supply chain ESG processes, tools and systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to build, and maintain solid positive working relationships and partnerships internally and with external suppliers, diversity and sourcing sustainability organizations.
- Ability to influence and collaborate at all internal organizational levels.

- Solid critical thinking and professional communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Superior project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and to successful completion.

- At least Four (4) year college degree (Bachelor\'s degree) from accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or post graduate degree preferred.
- Financial services industry experience preferred/desired.
- At least 5+ years of experience as an accomplished supplier diversity and supply chain sustainability professional.
- Understanding and experience managing responsible sourcing initiatives and a clear understanding and interest in helping Truist to achieve top ESG performance in all of the following: supplier diversity, procurement, strategic sourcing, community development, diversity & inclusion.
- Passion, skillset and desire to contribute to growing the capacity of diverse and small businesses and Truist\'s ESG objectives.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems, standard analytical tools (Excel, Access), spend management and other reporting tools.
- Current or past experience in serving in leadership positions (boards, committees, project teams) for national or local Supplier Diversity or ESG organizations (e.g. NMSDC, WBENC, USPAACC, Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council, etc…).
- Ability and willingness to attend external supplier diversity and sustainability conferences, matchmaking meetings, or other events in-person if the need arises.
