Supplemental Health Account Manager – Band 4

The Supplemental Health Account Manager is responsible for retaining and growing an assigned in-market book of business. Accountable for proactively leading the Supplemental Health existing client relationship and strategy through a data and value driven consultative approach.

Maintains a strong partnership with the Cigna Client Manager to support the retention and growth of the Supplemental Health integrated book of business.

Serves as the field-based subject matter expert ensuring the development and execution of all strategies designed to maximize all aspects of retention and growth.

Leads the end to end client enrollment strategy influencing the client and/or producer on adopting Cigna enrollment best practices and working with matrix partners to facilitate the planning/execution of the onsite or virtual enrollment materials and events to maximize enrollment results.

Proactively offers producer and client level solutions through a consultative data-driven approach leading to new product offerings (upselling and cross selling) and exceptional retention.

Ideal candidate would be a self-starter with a focus on building client relationships and driving sales opportunities while thriving in a fast paced ambiguous environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative proactive information/recommendations with clients on an on-going basis.
  • Manage a block of business approximately 50-80 accounts
  • Possess knowledge of the practices, techniques and tools associated with providing outstanding consultative value to clients and customers
  • Keep account partners informed of account status and opportunities for expanded business by partnering with Client Management team, Client, Broker and Sales Directors to upsell/cross-sell additional product lines within Cigna and other matrix partners
  • Communicate/educate clients and brokers about Cigna enterprise updates and initiatives
  • Thorough understanding of Supplemental Health products, services, and associated operating requirements
  • Utilize and document within organization's sales information systems & databases.
  • Determine and lead renewal negotiations for existing block of business
  • Collaborate with clients, enrollment vendors and producers to influence an enrollment strategy that increases participation utilizing established best practices
  • Participate in special projects and bring forward process improvements with enthusiasm and strong work ethic.  

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • High Energy & Self-Motivated individual who will work with a sense of urgency and willingness to partner internally (i.e.  sales, matrix partners, service teams, etc) and externally  (i.e. clients, producers, etc.) to identity and execute on key growth and retention opportunities. 
  • Ability to navigate and develop complex relationships with all internal business partners and external stakeholders
  • Manages competing priorities and deliverables to achieve the most ideal outcome  
  • Be accountable to deliver an exceptional client and broker experience
  • Demonstrate active listening, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proactively identify and present client growth opportunities; working with internal partners to guide success.
  • Team player, but able to work independently to reach goals
  • Be a subject matter resource who has in-depth knowledge of insurance coverages, products and staying abreast on industry updates/changes.
  • Familiar with multiple software and system-based applications such as Microsoft Office database and spreadsheets.
  • Requires strong background or experience in account management, sales, client experience, or other areas requiring significant client and customer interaction.

  • Experienced leader either directly or in an matrix environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • State required Life, Accident and Health Licensure required.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel domestically/overnight up to 25-30% may be required
  • Base Pay + Incentive Comp
  • Location:  Office Based OR Work at Home

This role requires regular travel to client & customer sites & you must be fully vaccinated OR be required to undergo regular testing. If you’re unvaccinated, you will be required to self-test (test will be provided to you) and you must obtain a negative result no greater than three (3) calendar days prior to the meeting/travel departure.
