Job Description
SPECIFIC PROJECTS/DUTIES FOR THIS INTERNSHIP INCLUDE:
The intern will be tasked with the following:
- Energy savings for the plant, reduction of compressed air usage in the Coating department. Compressed air is a huge energy cost. Develop different ways of blowing sheets or use different ideas to reduce the compressed air usage in Coating department.
- 6S Machine shop. Audit machine shop, form a team that will spearhead the changes. Do an initial training session and then work with machine shop personnel to help standardize and clean the machine shop to increase order to the area.
- Assist operating departments in Spoilage reduction. Assist operation departments in tracking spoilage and identifying top causes, and develop solutions.
- Assist in L-26 conversion to 708 height cans. Participate on the team for this line conversion. Assist in identifying major problems in preparation for the conversion.
- Assist in managing facility maintenance. Assist in everyday management of the facility.
Job Requirements
- Student must be currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical or similar engineering area. Ideal candidates are rising Seniors:
- Minimum GPA 2.8
- Must be able to work 40-hours per week
- Must be able to relocate if needed
- Background in Lean/ 6-sigma helpful, but not required
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Leadership experience a plus
- Basic Understanding of Engineering Drawings. Ability to use AutoCAD or similar CAD software to produce detailed drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills required
- Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism
- Proven high degree of personal motivation and discipline to perform duties
- High level of independent thinking and resourcefulness to develop and propose solutions to problems
- Ability to interface with various levels of staff from other engineers, to management, to production employees
- Ability to successfully prioritize and work multiple tasks concurrently
