Specialist Training School Health and Safety Trainer
Specialist Training School (STS) is part of Royal Air Force Safety Centre (Air Command) High Wycombe but currently lodge at Royal Air Force Halton.
STS delivers 3 strands of Governance and Assurance training to the RAF and our wider Defence customers. STS delivers specialist short and intense training courses in Environmental Protection, Health & Safety and Quality Management.
STS prides itself as being the centre of excellence in the provision of accredited H&S training to the RAF. Due to a recent promotion, we have a vacancy for a Health and Safety trainer who has ideally worked in a H&S role or has a training background, however, should the right candidate display suitable attributes and long-term commitment to STS, there is an opportunity to gain specialist training for the post.
It is important to us that the right candidate has and desires to improve themselves and become part of a well moulded and motivated team of specialists, who promote our exacting standards of training excellence to the RAF and Civil Servant colleagues.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is enthusiastic and motivated, who can interact professionally at all levels but as a team player first.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
As the role is training delivery, we would expect the successful candidate to routinely deliver training throughout the United Kingdom and at Halton. We value our staff and provide an excellent work life balance, this is achieved with scope to work from home as well as in the office environment when not training, to conduct self-administration in the booking of travel with our business support team, or marking of examinations and undertaking training updates or Continued Professional Development (CPD) to maintain subject matter knowledge.
It would be advantageous to hold a teaching qualification, but as highlighted if the candidate shows enough potential at interview which includes a 10-minute presentation on a H&S topic, a Level 3 trainer training course will be provided.
Similarly, we would expect the candidate to hold a Level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate or recognised equivalent H&S qualification. However, if the individual provides other exceptional qualities at interview and presentation, funding can be provided to achieve the required qualification. Candidates need to be aware there may be a return of service if public money is used to facilitate any course and exam fees. This will be explained prior to any successful offer.
Most STS H&S courses are currently accredited with the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and therefore, the following credentials will be needed to fulfil the role.
