Job Description

As a Structures Repair Engineer you will provide structural repair support for the TUI Airways managed fleet whilst preparing repair proposals for submittal to the OEM and provide advice to base and line maintenance on structural damage issues.
 

The TUI Aircraft Structures Repair Team provides structural repair Part M support for the TUI Airways, TUI fly Nordic and TUI NL fleets of B737NG and B757 models and all TUI group airline B767 and B787 models, including AOG line support along with structural repair support for all TUI group airplanes models on five lines of heavy maintenance at base maintenance facilities.

ABOUT THE JOB
 

  • Evaluate, prepare and propose fully engineered aircraft structural repair schemes in conjunction with aircraft manufacturers Structural Repair Manual (SRM) and/or component manufacturers repair manual
  • Advise and assist Part 145 maintenance staff in the implementation of structural repairs
  • Advise and assist with all other structural related issues, e.g. repair related AD / SB evaluation and embodiment
  • Attend hangar daily meetings to provide structural support to the Hangar Bay Manager and licenced engineers and report back to Structures Bay Manager defects discussed that will require repair support so these can be prioritised accordingly
  • Attend OEM structural seminars as required to make OEMs aware of improvements required in repairs that affect the TUI fleet for improved support
  • Attend base and outsourced maintenance pre-input meetings
  • When required attend AOG situations at any location on the TUI network for short or extended periods, working within a multi-functional team to complete a major structural repair
  • Amend AMOS tracking events for Category B or Category C repairs with future work or repeat inspections requirements when repair instructions or damage tolerance evaluations are received from Boeing
  • Plan future work requirements for temporary repairs or repairs that do not meet return lease conditions, providing information for any special processes, NDT inspections, materials required and man-hour estimates prior to suitable maintenance input
  • Being part of the team’s weekly on- call rota to cover AOG situations at weekends and evenings
  • Audit repair certification during heavy maintenance for addition to repair files and/or Dent and Buckle documents
  • Raise AMOS work orders to have allowable damages or repairs re-assessed or reworked as required to gain acceptable repair certification for NAA or EOL requirements
  • Maintain repair files and dent and buckle documents for the complete TUI UK fleet (B737-800, B757-200, B767-300 and B787-8/-9 models), complete TUI SE fleet (B767-300 and B737-800 models), partial TUI NL fleet (B737-800, B767-300 and B787-8) and partial TUI BE fleet (B767-300 and B787-8)
  • Audit and give advice on all structural repairs to support aircraft acquisition and disposal, being on-site with the aircraft and records as and when required
  • Liaise with other Part M departments when structural repairs affect Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and MPD inspection requirements
  • Liaise with other TUI airlines when their airplanes are on heavy maintenance in H61 with structural repairs ongoing and provide the H61 base maintenance commercial team the man-hours of the repair team services as required
  • Support outsource engineering and selected workshops that repair TUI aircraft components, depending if selected MRO/workshop is capable to liaise with OEMs, with structural technical support and audit all structural WOs and update repair files and Dent & Buckle documents
  • Compile, check and issue Repair Scheme Data Sheets and Work Instructions for licenced engineers to be able to certify and close work orders for repairs or allowable damages outside of published repair data
  • Update, audit and provide repair files and Dent & Buckle documents for airline transfers or lessor mid-term and EOL requirements
  •  Compile reports to support airline claims against third parties following aircraft damage.
     

ABOUT YOU
 

  • Substantial experience in an Airline Maintenance environment with a good knowledge of aircraft structural repairs
  • Minimum of aircraft maintenance engineers licence or degree/HND in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent related experience
  • Proven background in developing aircraft repairs using the Structural Repair Manual
  • Ability to find production drawings for aircraft structure
  • Working knowledge of Office suite, AMOS, Adobe, and drawing software packages (AutoCAD is preferable)
  • Good understanding of NAA regulatory requirements
  • Hold full UK driving licence and passport
  • Meet DFT requirements to hold airside pass
