About the Team:
As part of the Mobile Directorate, reporting to the Director of Channel Strategy & PMO, the team is responsible for channel strategy development, planning and governance across the Mobile Division of Virgin Media O2. The team leadership comprises of ex-strategy consultants with extensive experience across both shaping and delivering strategies across a range of sectors.
The Strategy & Governance team plays a critical role in shaping the future strategy of our Sales channels whilst ensuring effective in-year execution of this strategy. The team is also responsible for developing the 3-year investment plan to underpin the strategy and for shaping and owning the Mobile Roadmap to ensure successful execution / delivery of our ambitious plans. The Governance arm of the team manages the Capex budget for Channels & Service and ensures we deliver 100% compliance with all our Risk, Audit, Business Continuity and SLT / Exec objectives / review requirements.
About the Role:
The role has a uniquely broad remit, spanning across Strategy, Planning and Governance (inc. Capex). It will therefore suit an individual who draws energy from a true variation in role.
- Play a critical part in setting the strategic direction for Channels and Operations, aligning the Directorate to deliver the business strategy, driving strategic projects, with a focus on distribution strategy, and acting as a ‘SWAT team’ for delivering strategic agenda items within the Directorate
- Demonstrate innovative thinking, conduct in-depth analyses, and develop and shape robust strategy recommendations. Work closely with Channel Heads to shape the future of Channels / support with single channel 3YP and strategy development. Represent channel considerations in Strategy processes and understand the ‘so what’ from customer / proposition strategies for channels
- Provide business case consultancy support to other teams to develop compelling and creative investment cases for key projects to help them to achieve sign-off more seamlessly
- Own Mobile Capex planning and manage in-year Capex. Own and develop the annual operating One Plan for Mobile
- Manage Business Continuity, Risk and Audit for Mobile
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and update Channel Strategy as part of the 3YP process or otherwise
- Ensure channel considerations are understood in wider strategy development work (inc. customer and proposition strategies)
- Understand the ‘so what’ of customer / proposition strategies for Channels to ensure these strategies are effectively mobilised
- Support Channel leads with single channel 3YPs / Strategy development
- Act as ‘SWAT team’ to quickly help mobilise strategic initiatives, ‘putting meat on the bones’, agreeing specific plans and achieving business case sign-off for key channels strategic initiatives which need some extra manpower to get to mobilisation, before handing over to PMO for Delivery
- Provide business case consultancy support to other teams to develop compelling and creative investment cases for key projects to help them to achieve sign-off more seamlessly
- Own and develop the annual operating One Plan for Mobile
What We Need from You:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strategy experience within telco or equivalent B2C sector
- Be a self-starter, proactive individual who is resourceful and results-driven, with an ability to manage work across multiple workstreams in parallel, and cut through ambiguity and complexity
- Be an effective and impactful communicator, being able to influence WLT team members and communicate complex recommendations with clarity
- Demonstrate analytical rigour and have strong commercial awareness
- Have experience in solving complex business challenges by rapidly developing comprehensive approaches and recommendations that stakeholders buy into
- Be an excellent relationship-builder with demonstrable experience working across diverse teams
- Develop SLT-ready decks, documents and business cases
