Job Description

Portfolio Management

  • Work alongside MD and Account Executive to shape the strategic partnership portfolio with the customer and internal experts (across Microsoft)
  • Champion innovation in partnership discussions and ensure linkage with Vanguard Center of Innovation Excellence (CoIE)
  • Maintain overall portfolio view and reporting in close coordination with internal and customer stakeholders
  • Liaise with Commercial / IPR teams to ensure appropriate processes are established and executed to capitalise upon and protect IPR
  • Ensure alignment of initiatives across other parts of the programme (e.g. Social Value)
  • Drive discrete engagements from ideation through to execution as appropriate.

 

Strategic Planning and Business RoBs

  • Coordinate/orchestrate strategic planning process and take the lead on key business rhythms across the diverse business units involved in the program
  • Drive the execution of strategic initiatives on behalf of the leadership team
  • Work alongside finance colleagues to support the management of business financials including cost management
  • Develop regular and ad-hoc reports in support of customer and internal requirements (both developing content / materials and structuring and coordinating the work of others).

Leadership Support

  • Enhance leadership effectiveness through agenda setting, driving high-quality content and output, including prep and readiness for key customer and internal meetings
  • Work with the leadership team to support both the program and ongoing operation of the managed service (including customer facing activities where appropriate).

 

People & Culture Strategy

  • Lead on employee engagement initiatives to support the evolution of our culture (e.g. lunch and learn sessions; book clubs; team events)
  • Support the leadership team as they attract, retain and develop employees in a highly competitive talent market with a priority on diversity & inclusion
  • Lead on business communications and events, ensuring high impact content and presentation.

Qualifications

Education, Key Experiences, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of these related fields; business management, global project management; finance, engineering, or operations. Relevant work experience in lieu of Degree
  • Consulting experience or MBA qualification highly desirable
  • Orchestration of strategic and complex business activities
  • Strong analytical and operational skills; strategic and growth mindset
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to partner with others
  • Effective in dealing with senior stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • World-class communication skills
  • Strong customer engagement and storytelling skills
  • High personal accountability for self and others
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
  • Experience of large scale, complex programs preferred
  • Experience of strategic portfolio prioritization and management preferred
  • Self-managing leader who takes initiative.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements may include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check; UK Baseline Personnel Security Standards; UK Security Clearance.

 

Travel

This role is based in the UK. 25-50% travel should be anticipated – regular travel to Microsoft offices in Reading and London; with more infrequent travel to customer sites in the South West of England, and Microsoft offices in Cambridge and the US as required.
