Job Summary:

The Global Security team is committed to promote and evolve a dynamic, proactive, and prepared security organization to protect the employees, guests, properties, assets, information, and brand of the Walt Disney Company and all of its owned companies. The Strategic Security Operations team is responsible for managing the team’s strategic initiatives as set by executive leadership and executing all departmental communications and internal programs including executive and internal communications, talent development programs, employee recognition, culture initiatives, marketing of Global Security services to the Company, and TWDC’s global employee security awareness program, Community Watch (CW).

Responsibilities:

The Strategic Communications Intern will support the Global Security team with key department-wide initiatives and employee communication and engagement efforts. We are looking for someone with creative and outside-the-box ideas, keen attention to detail, an eagerness to learn and to lead projects through to fruition, and a contagious positive attitude. This intern will:

  • Assist with writing and editing internal and executive communications.
  • Serve as project manager and writer of the Global Security newsletter and web portal, including publishing regular content on an internal WordPress site.
  • Track metrics related to employee communications efforts, including newsletter readership and web portal activity, and provide regular reports, analysis, and recommendations based on results.
  • Provide event management and planning support for department events including town halls, networking and social events, volunteer activities, and learning and development opportunities.
  • Conceptualize and create surveys related to events and initiatives, and provide thoughtful insights and recommendations based on results.
  • Provide support as needed on key departmental initiatives, including the Global Security Mentoring Program and Diversity & Inclusion Council.
  • Assist with creating and editing project plans, reports, presentations, etc. in support of team or departmental strategic projects or executive requests.
  • Contribute new ideas for continuous improvement related to any of the team’s initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A go-getter with both left and right brain tendencies – you love making project plans and have a keen eye for font, color, and layout.
  • A strong writer and editor who can pitch new story ideas and effectively craft content that informs and inspires. A majority of this role involves writing for different internal platforms.
  • A curious individual with an interest in culture and employee engagement
  • A proactive problem solver who can work independently, multitask, and adapt to change.
  • Professional or personal experience with WordPress, including building pages and article layouts.
  • A critical thinker who is comfortable developing surveys, analyzing communications metrics, and presenting results.
  • A master organizer who is able to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
  • An exemplary professional who can interface with a variety of employees from interns to executives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in internal communications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with event planning
  • Experience working in a professional office environment

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last 6 months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
  • Currently earning or within six months of graduating with a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.

Additional Information:

  • The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2022 through January 2023
  • This position is remote, and can be located throughout the United States utilizing a dedicated home office that includes reliable internet and phone service.
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship. Please note, candidates must be receptive to working Pacific Standard Time for the duration of the program.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete a writing exercise.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last eighteen (18) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
