Carrick-a-Rede and Giant’s Causeway properties welcome visitors from all over the world and we have an exciting opportunity for a seasonal Storyteller to deliver guided tours and bespoke experiences that celebrate the property’s Spirit of Place to create a connection with every visitor, every time they visit. You will be based at Carrick-a-Rede but may be required to work across both sites.
You will work around 4 days per week, hours to be discussed at interview
We have several seasonal Storyteller roles available at Carrick-a-Rede and a variety of hours available. The number of hours you work each month from March to November will vary.
This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.
As a conservation charity we are committed to preserving and protecting our special places and spaces for everyone to enjoy. As a Storyteller at Carrick-a-Rede you’ll be able to connect with a wide range of global audiences in a dynamic and challenging environment.
You will deliver guided tours and bespoke experiences with flair, be able to hold a space and engage with a mixed audience and deliver demonstrations at set touchpoints. You’ll engage with visitors to get their feedback, to respond and help to identify new opportunities. You will assist in the delivery of new events and activities to build support and connection with our place.
You’ll prioritise the wellbeing and safety of our visitors as you deliver tours and demonstrations in the outdoor environment; and will work closely with the team to deal with any issues that arise. You’ll be the first aid responder for the site on a rota basis and will carry out day to day safety checks across the wider site.
You’ll act as a liaison with external partners, media and influencers to showcase our sites, drive our conservation message and build support for our cause.
The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
Wherever you’re from, and whatever your background, we want to hear from you – and it doesn’t matter if you’re jam first, cream first, or even if you don’t like scones at all. Everyone is welcome.
