Job Accountabilities

Position Overview:   The Storeroom Clerk maintains an efficient, timely and appropriate supply of parts and equipment needed to maintain the plant’s operating capability.   

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Source the appropriate vendors and generate purchase requisitions to secure supplies, parts, and or equipment requested per plant requirements.
  • Inspect incoming parts and stock or distribute as requested.  Contact vendors to resolve problems in cases of damaged or improper part shipments.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of stock items and reorder replacement supplies as necessary.
  • Enter inventory data into the computer to tracking inventory levels, usage and costs.  Supply required inventory data to Plant Accountant in preparation of budget and expense reports.
  • When requested, pick up parts from local vendors and transport back to plant.
  • Maintain the parts storage area in a clean and organized condition.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:                                                                         

  1. High School diploma or GED
  2. Basic data entry skills.
  3. Basic knowledge of computer data base or inventory management system.
  4. Mechanical aptitude to understand various parts/equipment specifications, such as thread patterns, part dimensions, bore sizes, etc. to ensure accuracy of orders.
  5. Ability to use standard measuring devices such as rulers and calipers.
  6. Effective communication skills dealing with Team Members and vendors in completing the timely and accurate delivery of parts and supplies. 
  7. Basic understanding of can manufacturing process and the make/model of the major plant machinery.
