The Stakeholder Relations Analyst will be a key member of AES Clean Energy’s External Affairs team, applying industry-leading engagement strategies in order to empower communities and advance a carbon-free future. This role will support AES’ strategic stakeholder engagement, with a focus on projects under 25-megawatts, including community solar, across New York and the Northeast. This role will report to the Northeast Stakeholder Relations Manager and will work closely with the AES Clean Energy Development and Permitting teams. 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

 

The Stakeholder Relations Analyst will partner with cross-functional teams to execute state -specific stakeholder relations strategies in support of business and project success.  Primary responsibilities include the following:  

 

  • Identify, establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders working collaboratively with internal teams such as Development, Permitting, Operations and Communications  

  • Create and maintain accurate records of all contacts and interactions, ensuring maintenance of stakeholder tracking 

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic project engagement plans that align with the company’s brand positioning and support its development objectives.  

  • Coordinate in-person and virtual events, including but not limited to, community meetings and site visits, and oversee all event-related tasks, from planning to execution 

  • Identify and communicate community/local sentiment, priorities and concerns to the internal team, ensuring that AES’ messaging is specifically tailored and relevant to the local community 

  • Identify and support strategic partnerships within the local community, to support AES’ brand and reputation; in alignment with AES’ Social Impact Program   

  • Mobilize individuals and organizations to demonstrate support for our renewable energy projects 

  • Develop targeted external communications such as information materials, talking points, presentations, displays, social media and press releases to bolster local presence  

  • Monitor social and traditional media, including local media  

  • Other duties as assigned  

  • Up to 30% travel may be required  

 

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • 1-3 years relevant experience preferably in external relations, business or communications 

  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred  

  • Hands-on, hard-working team player who has a sense of ownership and is eager to support projects from a variety of angles 

  • Ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Comfort working cross-functionally and developing consensus 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • Willingness to learn and gain experience in communications, marketing, local governmental processes, event planning, community organizing, and the renewable energy industry 

  • Strong personal commitment to renewable energy, business, and/or rural economic development  

  • Global mindset and comfort with working with people from multiple different backgrounds and cultures 

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines  

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, QuickBase, Box, Microsoft Teams 

  • Experience utilizing CRM systems is preferred
