Job Duties
This is a staff accountant role at Engineering Division, Chennai. Independently expected to handle financial reporting, monthly book closure, profit centre reporting, managing capital and inventory and lead annual business planning with minimal support. Expected to handle medium to complex accounting and reporting requirements with minimal supervision.
- Self-starter - Able to quickly learn and perform day to activities independently. Should quickly step up to handle more complex activities with minimal supervisor support.
- Process Driven - Should follow process and invest sufficient time in documentation of the process with focus on attention to detail.
- Financial reporting & Month closing activities - Responsible for monthly book close by liaising with EFSS to ensure US GAAP and Local GAAP compliance. Analysis of monthly trial balance and effect required journal entries before book closure. Performing necessary book closure procedures in GLS, from work day 1 to work day 6, including BU T-Con.
- Profit center reporting - Ensure Business units results are analyzed and reviewed month over month and vs business plan and explain variance / abnormal transactions.
- Variance analysis - Making a deep-dive analysis on the monthly and YTD financial results of the facility. Perform variance analysis with ATS/RBM targets.
- Annual / Quarterly Business plan -Responsible for timely and accurate development of annual/quarterly business plans and review with Facility and Business Resource Management. Expected to lead Annual business planning process with minimal supervisor support.
- MIS Reporting/ Corporate submissions - Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to 1) Management -Departmental expenses report, WD5 Flash report, WD-10 facility score card and Other MIS reports 2) Corporate submissions (Form M, Headcount report, currency submission, operations score card etc.)
- Capital asset Management -Assist in capital budgeting process, updating the operations and management on monthly capital spent and ensure Capital Management System is reflecting capital spent pattern. Review the capital requests from operations and analyze the payback / return on the investments and help route the capital requests for approval process.
- Compliance - Ensure the facility is compliant of indirect tax and other trade compliance rules and monitoring areas of potential loss/ gain and highlighting the same to the management on frequent basis.
- Controls and Risk assessment - Understand key controls like (SOX, Small entity controls, IFC) applicable for the facility, able to independently test relevant controls, report control deficiency and prepare remediation plan to mitigate the control weakness. Assist the business manager in Risk assessment surveys / and other risk assessment projects.
- Audit Support - Able to Independently assist Internal / Statutory auditors with audit questions and other information requests on timely basis
Background Experience:
- Bachelor’s in accounting with 2+ years of accounting / business support experience
- 3/4-year Degree in Accounting or equivalent or 3/4-year Degree in Business with a minimum of 18 hours accounting coursework
- 3.0 / 4.0 Grade Point Average (Account GPA & Cumulative GPA) or equivalent
- Willingness to relocate and be mobile minded
- Excellent Initiative, Communication, Leadership and Interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent)
- MBA or master’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
