Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for â€œdynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Sr. Test Engineer.  The Sr. Test Engineer will be the lead test engineer supporting multiple rotating electric programs. This person will also define hardware & software requirements and collaborate with the test technology & test execution team throughout product development process, including setting up, troubleshooting, and testing the products to complete functional testing on rotating electric products.

Key responsibilities

  • Review customer test requirements and develop test specification and procedures to assure compliance to functional testing requirements
  • Author robust detailed test plan that includes test specification, procedure and acceptance criteria as needed
  • Identify required equipment resources to support the testing activities and address gaps in capability by working with cross-functional teams
  • Create test profiles/ scripts based on product and application requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing test data to ensure data integrity and completing test report to document test results
  • Lead motor inverter pairing activity in support of rotating electric product development including but not limited to calibration process, control table development and parameter setup
  • Define test priority internally and coordinate any required outsourced testing activities.
  • Work with motor controls, test technology and test execution teams to support dynamometer testing as needed. Support product engineering on root cause analysis of product failures

What we’re looking for

  • BS in Engineering or related science discipline required. MS degree in electrical engineering or related preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of High Voltage motors/ inverters and other Vehicle Electrification components products preferred
  • Experience in integrating, troubleshooting, and commissioning inverters, controls, or rotating electric machines (electric motors) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in Matlab and/or comparable software
  • Knowledge of machines or motors and related control concepts for electric and hybrid electric vehicle drive systems, including Field Oriented Vector Control and Space Vector Modulation techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required
  • Ability to routinely work in a hands-on manner required
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support multi-shift operation if necessary
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Must be highly aware and adhere to high voltage safety standards and procedures
