Position Title: Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) Electrical
Job Summary:
- The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer role is a highly visible role in Brunswick Boat Group’s (BBG) Quality organization, would report into the Quality Lead for the Boat Group and be integral in driving a supplier performance system which creates a competitive advantage for Brunswick Boat Group through the strength of its supply base.
- To support assigned suppliers within specific commodity (ties) to meet and/or exceed BBG’s quality performance standards and our customer's product quality expectations by investigating, analyzing and resolving supplier quality problems.
- To lead in all supplier qualification endeavors including on-site supplier quality audits and supplier technical reviews. (process and product related)
- This position would unlock value for Brunswick Boat Group (BBG) by increasing integration with our supplier base to solve technical problems, reducing defect rates, conducting an audit program, and leading continuous improvement across all BBG plants for the specific assigned commodity.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Development & Supplier Process improvement (40%)
- Continuously monitor and improve supplier quality performance of assigned suppliers (NCR, PPM, RFT)
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to avoid repeat failures
- Drive "Zero" defect approach within assigned supply base and strive to meet "Zero PPM" quality level
Supplier Qualification, Approval and Maintenance (30%)
- lead on-site audits focusing on both quality systems and technical processes
- Conduct thorough technical reviews at part level to access supplier's capability to make part
- Drive post-audit corrective actions
Supplier Warranty Reduction (15%)
- Work with Technical service and supplier recovery team to gather, analyze and action all field issues related to assigned suppliers
- lead required problem-solving efforts to eliminate warranty failures
Commodity Standardization and Improvement (15%)
- Standardize set of requirements for assigned commodity across all BBG plants
- Coach, mentor supplier quality engineers as well as suppliers and transfer technical knowhow
- Collaborate with Purchasing and engineering to support long term commodity strategies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Problem solving and analytical thinking ability
- Must have deep technical experience with one of the many commodities & manufacturing processes (details to be given separately)
- Must be familiar with basic quality assurance and measurement techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally
- Able to review supplier designs of electrical devices and systems that use basic components such as conductors, coils, magnets, batteries, switches, resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes and transistors
- Medium to high level of technical expertise within E&E Commodity Such as:
- Wire harness
- printed circuit board (PCB) layouts and blueprints for electrical and electronic devices
- Testing and validation
- Mastery over quality control & problem solving techniques for E & E components
- Familiarity with APQP including PPAP, QFD, FMEA, and control plan development
- Basic Drawing skills and GD&T knowhow
- Basic Quality tools and SPC techniques
- Data analysis & reporting (especially proficient in Excel)
Minimum Experience:
- A minimum of eight years’ experience in quality management in an Electrical or Electronics manufacturing environment
- International exposure and/or experience desirable
Education & Skills:
- Bachelor degree in a Electricals or Electronics Engineering or Manufacturing
- Formal Six Sigma Training; ASQ certifications desired: CQE, CSSBB
Travel Required:
- Up to 50% to supplier locations and various BBG manufacturing locations
