Microsoft’s cloud business is growing exponentially, and it is the Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) team that is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth.  Key responsibilities include demand forecasting, capacity planning, supply chain management and deployment execution. To efficiently manage this scope at scale, analytics based on high quality, timely data flowing across business processes is essential. The engineering team within CSCP is undergoing a digital transformation that will enable the business to efficiently scale and is looking for passionate data engineers to solve world class problems.

We have built platform (Mantis) to enable system driven planning functionalities, such as Demand Forecasting, Capacity signal generation, and many other business areas.

We are looking for an engineering manager to lead our Mantis Service & ML team to build big data based, self-service, configurable and scalable Mantis platform that supports fast growing supported applications on top.

Responsibilities

• As a Software Engineering Manager, the candidate will be personally involved and leading the team in designing, configuring, implementing features in service and forecasting platform, using cutting edge cloud technologies, deploy forecasting algorithms optimized for execution in Apache Spark environment,
• Engineer features to enhance the machine learning algorithms performance,
• Own the development, quality, testing, and production readiness of service and UX elements.
• Develop innovative solutions to hard problems under ambiguity and no obvious solutions

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or related fields
• 12+ years of experience in an engineering role, with a proven track record of delivering complex products and services
• 3+ years in experience leading software engineering projects and mentoring other engineers

Preferred 

• Strong knowledge with C#, or at least one modern programming language
• Knowledge of Azure stack and surround technologies
• Experience with Spark, SQL, Python/R
• Knowledge of machine learning, time series models and linear programming
• Strong C# coding skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills – written, oral as well as presentation skills
• Can-do attitude and ability to go deep in unfamiliar technology areas.
