Job Description

Our Company

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe’s all about. We give everyone—from emerging artists to global brands—everything they need to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences! We’re passionate about empowering people to create beautiful and powerful images, videos, and apps, and transform how companies interact with customers across every screen.

We’re on a mission to hire the very best and are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has access to equal opportunity. We realize that new ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours!

The Challenge

  • Are you comfortable running production environments *AND* writing code?
  • Do you have an intimate understanding of the operational challenges of running services at scale, and also committed to addressing those challenges through software engineering instead of sustained human toil?
  • Are you keen to explore new technologies and looking to help build a path not-yet-traveled?
  • Do you combine the above experiences and talent with strong communications skills, a customer-centric demeanor, and a will to “get stuff done” - all while learning and having fun?

Responsibilities

  • Extend our product services and production environment using traditional software engineering methodologies. Writing code is an integral part of the job.
  • Participate in the technical direction of our multi-cloud enterprise solution.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to provide a high-quality customer experience.
  • Develop service metrics and measurement.
  • Deliver automation to prevent problem recurrence, and automate responses to all non-exceptional service conditions.
  • Establish credibility with the quality of your technical execution.
  • Participate in a cross-regional on-call rotation using a follow-the-sun model.
  • Continually evaluate and adopt the latest industry technologies to optimize costs and improve efficiency.
  • Participate fully in an organization that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high levels of output in a predictable and reliable way.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of commercial software development and/or technical operations experience, and experience managing large-scale cloud-based applications through standard software engineering methodologies.
  • MUST possess a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Able to design and deliver infrastructure solutions for scalability, reliability, high availability, performance, security, software maintainability, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with Linux-based software stack.
  • Experience building services on Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with public cloud technologies (eg. Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Experience in large-scale data processing and/or machine-learning environments a plus (eg. Hadoop, Kafka, Tensorflow, etc).
  • Expertise in multiple of the following technologies: Java, Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana, Git, Ansible/Chef/Puppet, Cassandra/MongoDB.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are essential to the role.
  • Able to work effectively across multiple timezones to collaborate with peers in other geographies.

Site Reliability Engineers at Adobe are a globally distributed and embedded team of engineers building and demonstrating software solutions to develop and maintain our cloud-based services, and the observability and automation stack that goes with it.

As a Site Reliability Engineer in the Digital Experience group at Adobe, you will join our hardworking individuals in being responsible for the delivery, optimization, resilience, and availability of high-value and high-transaction-rate services trusted by the majority of Fortune 100 companies and some of the largest brands in the world.

Site Reliability Engineering is an engineering philosophy that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Adobe's internally critical and externally facing systems maintain the appropriate service levels (availability, latency, and reliability) to serve our customers' needs, and reduce the friction for leading change, while being strategic about capacity, and delivering constant performance improvements. SRE is a set of engineering approaches focusing on delivery of the appropriate architecture, building infrastructure, optimizing existing systems, and eliminating toil through automation.

SREs have the acuity and experience to provide direct technical contributions to major projects both in code, and in building and optimizing the production environment. You align with your peers across engineering, deliver domain expertise for the infrastructure within your product area, and draw on your strong communication skills to collaborate across geographies. Your involvement helps to cultivate and support the successful delivery of reliability engineering, and you influence by way of metrics and data.
