The Opportunity

Handles the development and implementation process of a company’s international products and services. Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products. Supervises the project from initiation through delivery including planning and scheduling.

What you'll Do

  • Tackle engineering problems by creating solutions that use existing technologies and apply your technical prowess and problem-solving skills
  • Drive the entire globalization (GILT) life cycles of our products for the international markets
  • Work with Product Team PGMs, Engineering and Product Managers on business unit direction and set strategy for Product Localization team to best meet requirements
  • Educate product teams regarding World‐readiness and Product Localization processes/requirements
  • Perform project planning, coordinating schedule and budget constraints.
  • Tracks Software Life Cycle (SLC) markers for assigned Business Unit/Product Line. Prepares the SLC reviews and may be the presenter for the same
  • Performs risk management to planning, identification, analysis, responses, monitoring and control on a project.
  • Aggregates, organizes, and synthesizes program and project information in order to connect with extended team and management.
  • Evaluates existing processes and procedures. Makes recommendations and drives process improvement and adoption of standard methodologies (processes, tools, etc) to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with people at all levels. Obtains partnership and action from people not under his/her direct supervision.
  • Implements process improvements, including identifying the problem areas and processes some cross‐product or cross‐Business Unit focus.

Responsibilities/Complexity/Impact

  • Leads multiple complicated projects or tasks with no direction from management.
  • Coordinates execution of localization projects (possibly bundled in a suite) by aligning localization schedules, influencing vendor selections, synchronizing documentation localization, among others.
  • Optimally negotiates, persuades and motivates extended project team and senior management, providing justifiable proposals and recommendations and clearly outlined courses of action to follow.

What is needed to succeed

  • Typically requires 8+ years of proven experience, including significant project/program management experience and focus on delivering cross-functional projects
  • Master's degree in translation, localization, computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Linguistics, graduate level preferred, equivalent field or experience preferred
  • Experience working with Continuous integration tools preferred

Technical Competency

  • Deep experience in Machine Translation technologies and related fields in machine learning and artificial intelligence [Rule-based (RBMT), Statistical (SMT), Neural (NMT), Quality measures (BLEU, NIST, Word error rate, METEOR, LEPOR)]
  • Must have agile/Scrum expertise, able to mentor, guide and implement into existing teams

Teamwork/Attitude

  • Influencer and mentor for junior team members
  • Known as someone who is helpful and willing to answer questions within the team and able to work independently with no supervision
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with excellent written and verbal English communication skills (technical and non-technical)
  • Establishes credibility with peers, with the product teams, and senior managers and is a driving force for change when needed
