The SMEs strive to be experts in Amazon’s operation systems. They are accountable to delivering world class solutions through optimizing and reinventing the existing technology.

The SME organization are functional experts on the software tools in a given process areas and their application in the Amazon Logistics network. A successful manager in this organization has strong program management experience to define the process the team uses to deliver best in class tech to the field. This team looks for ways to automate human decision making by influencing Technology to build and update tools that reduce process complexity to deliver robust processes.

Amazon is seeking a Network Subject Matter Expert (SME) to work within the Amazon Logistics (AMZL).

We are looking for a driven, experienced Program Manager to help us redefine how we create and assign work (delivery routes) to last mile delivery associates. Our goal is to better design routes that match the capabilities of drivers and to recommend assignments that enable drivers to become deeply familiar with the communities and neighborhoods where they deliver to. This is a strategic initiative that improves both driver experience and delivers 100s of millions of cost savings.

This will involve rapidly innovating across science, UX, software architecture, and processes. As a Program Manager in the SME group, you will play a key role in ensuring that we build technical solutions that satisfy the requirements of our Amazon customers, delivery associates and delivery service providers and that integrate successfully into our existing operations.

This role requires a candidate that will be able to influence and drive change across multiple functional groups. This initiative is part of a high profile program; you will need to be comfortable communicating confidently and earning trust with people at many levels, including external partners, operations teams, software engineers, and senior leaders.

You will need to be comfortable synthesizing a clear, logical, data-driven narrative out of confusing, ambiguous and conflicting evidence.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive Management experience in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other technical field from an accredited university or 4+ years Amazon experience

Strong product and project management and analytical skills; ability to lead projects at a network level to influence and obtain buy-in, and then drive execution, analysis and achievement of the right results.

Exceptional communication (both written and verbal) skills

Travel approx. 25%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, support scope of requirements and prioritize.

Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others without positional authority, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position.

Experience managing tasks with statistical, financial, strategic and operational analysis and modeling involving large data sets to: support and improve business operations; implement best practices; and conduct cost benefit analysis.

Demonstrated ability to refine identified opportunities and customer pain points into a set of prioritized solutions/requirements.·

Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.

Experience managing tasks with statistical, financial, strategic and operational analysis and modeling involving large data sets to: support and improve business operations; implement best practices; and conduct cost benefit analysis.

Strong project management and organizational skills, experience working on complex initiatives with cross-functional teams. Proven track record of delivering within scope, time, budget and quality.

An entrepreneurial mindset, with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in fast-paced environment is crucial.

Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions, tradeoffs and strategy related to a product/program
