Job Description

Job Description
At Bristol Myers Squibb, we are inspired by a single vision – transforming patients’ lives through science. In oncology, hematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease – and one of the most diverse and promising pipelines in the industry – each of our passionate colleagues contribute to innovations that drive meaningful change. We bring a human touch to every treatment we pioneer. Join us and make a difference.

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated scientist to join our fast-paced Translational Sciences Mass Spectrometry Team. The successful candidate will be an expert in the field of targeted proteomics mass spectrometry, with a strong understanding of both biology and chemistry, and a demonstrated track record of independent research. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the effort of applying targeted proteomics in BMS clinical development and translational research to support target engagement, pharmacodynamic, mechanisms of drug action, and predictive biomarkers assay development. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical and Translational Medicine Teams and other collaborators in developing, validating, and implementing targeted proteomics assays. The candidate will work on assays internally and with CROs. Strong technical and communication skills, adaptability and a collaborative style are necessary attributes for this role.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Proteomics or a related discipline with 5 -10 years relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge of current and emerging quantitative proteomics techniques relating to sample preparation, LC-MS data acquisition and analysis, including familiarity with MRM, PRM and DIA-based quantification methods, and with the analysis of post-translational modifications.
Very strong and hands on experience in method development for protein analysis on micro and nanoflow liquid chromatography systems and hybrid mass spectrometers (e.g. Thermo’s Q Exactive, Sciex’s Triple TOF 6600+ or Bruker’s TimsTOF Pro platforms etc.).
Extensive experience in targeted protein quantification for small to large protein panels.
Extensive experience in protein extraction and enrichment techniques for serum/plasma proteomics, such as protein fractionation/enrichment, abundant protein depletion, and solid phase extraction
Hands on experience in protein extraction for fresh tissues and FFPE samples is desirable.
Experience of immuno-capture LC-MS assay workflow, including immuno-capture with bead or cartridge formats, enzymatic digestion, and basic knowledge of ligand-binding assay (LBA) is a plus.
Proficient with contemporary proteomics software (e.g. MaxQuant, Skyline, Spectronaut, PaSER etc.). Familiarity with complicated data analysis and statistical concepts is a plus.
General knowledge in translational medicine strategies, biomarker and biology is a plus
Proven track record of scientific approach to complex problem solving as demonstrated in scientific publications and presentations
Basic knowledge of GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, FDA Bioanalytical Guidance
General knowledge of and interest in the drug discovery and development process.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to write peer reviewed manuscripts and technical reports.
