Amazon is seeking a Sr. Manager to join our Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Sustainability team, supporting European Operations to transition to carbon neutrality and deliver on the Climate Pledge. In this role, you will be responsible for transposing requirements and opportunities from current and future sustainability policies across Europe into a long-term business strategy to accelerate Amazon’s roadmap to low and zero-carbon technologies. You will lead internal coordination with Public Policy, Legal, Sustainability and Operations leaders in Europe on topics including sustainable transport, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable buildings and circular economy. You will also be responsible for building an advocacy and engagement strategy with both public and private sectors to remove systemic blockers and ensure Amazon Operations businesses can implement key decarbonization initiatives at scale.
This role will have a high degree of collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must have strong transport and operations expertise, while being able to show acute judgement and political acumen. The candidate must be able to think strategically, formulate a clear vision and communicate it effectively to senior leaders in public and private sectors. This position requires the ability to Think Big and to build a roadmap that delivers across Amazon operations. You will need excellent communication and influencing skills to drive consensus and earn trust from senior leaders, both internal and external. You must be comfortable working independently and dealing with an ambiguous environment.
Additionally, this opportunity requires troubleshooting and problem solving skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technical environment. The candidate is motivated and agile, with excellent time management and project management skills.

Job responsibilities
• Act on behalf of Amazon’s operations businesses, work closely with Public Policy and Legal teams at European and in-country level to gather information regarding sustainability policies such as EU Green Deal, including but not limited to sustainable transport, renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable buildings and circular economy
• Lead internal coordination with policy, legal, sustainability and business leaders across Europe to translate sustainability policies into business opportunities for Amazon Operations, in support to Amazon's Climate Pledge
• Develop a long-term business roadmap to transpose EU Green Deal requirements (Circular Economy Action Plan, Fit For 55 etc.) into specific sustainability projects for Amazon Operations locally and across EU
• Have a clear understanding of European countries' specific plans, economic and political situation, evaluate their potential business impacts and build differentiated strategies
• Feed into advocacy and engagement strategies to remove regulatory and systemic blockers, working directly with EU VP on speaking opportunities
• Ability to manage and drive complex projects across various business teams and support functions, and to provide guidance also in situations of high ambiguity.
• Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Public Policy, Legal, Public Relations, and Operations teams.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the public policy and regulatory environment for sustainability policy in Europe paired with a solid knowledge of operations and logistics processes.
• Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Self-starter, who can take general direction and produce specific results, with strong judgment and decision-making skills
• Proven ability to influence without authority as an individual contributor
• Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
• Completed Bachelor’s Degree (Sustainability, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Political Sciences, International Policy, or related field) from an accredited university
• More than one European language fluency.
• Experience working on Public Policy topics or with public sector in Europe
• Depth of understanding of industry players in the transportation and energy sector in Europe
• Law Degree or Master’s Degree in an area of study relevant to this role
