Meritor is searching for a Sr. Industrialization Engineer to work with a team that specifies and implements world class capital equipment and processes at two facilities in North America. Manufacturing processes include Metal Forming, Machining, Welding, Assembly and Testing. The plant locations in the Trailer Products Business Unit include Frankfort, KY and Morganton, NC. This position will be based in Morganton, NC and will require 25-50% travel which will be primarily domestic to support plant activities and manage equipment suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and will have the desire to find optimal solutions to diverse problems. This position will be primarily focused on developing and implementing ideas which will Increase Safety and Efficiency. Job Responsibilities:
•Justify and purchase capital equipment/tooling to improve or implement manufacturing processes. Serves as primary liaison with cross-functional Product Development Teams providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input for new products, and acting as the primary interface and transition of new product to a full production environment.
•Design and implement efficient processes using lean manufacturing principles.
•Conduct assessments of existing or proposed manufacturing processes and suggest improvement ideas to increase efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality and improve safety and ergonomics.
•Utilize value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste as well as evaluate potential changes in workflow to maximize production efficiencies.
•Create Scope of Work Documents to be used quoting/sourcing capital equipment.
•Establish and document production standards and controls, conduct initial time studies and establish labor standards for all products as necessary.
•Complete PFMEA analysis in a cross functional environment.
•Establish procedures for proper handling, use and disposal of any hazardous materials that are implemented/added to the plant.
•Provide and/or implement continuous improvement ideas and direction for manufacturing and production.
•Solicit process simulations and review product GD&T to determine manufacturing feasibility.
•Assist in the identification and development of new equipment and tooling sources.
•Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors Level Degree in a relevant field (preferably mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering or engineering technology) preferred. Experience in lieu of degree considered
• 8+ years’ experience in a relevant field
• Professional certifications is preferred (SAE, PMP, AWS, etc.)
• Experience working in an environment with metal based manufacturing processes (machining, forming, welding, etc.) will be required.
• Hands-on manufacturing involvement in the launch of a new product and/or manufacturing cost improvement project implementation experience is required
• Experience working with capital equipment and managing capital equipment suppliers required (Assembly Lines, Control Systems, Metal Forming Equipment, and/or Machining Systems, etc.) will be required
