Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Senior Human Resources Manager to lead Human Resources for our rapidly growing Identification Solutions North America region. Our North America business is undergoing an exciting period of substantial growth, investment, and expansion and we are looking to bring in strong talent who can grow their career with Avery Dennison.  In this role you will act as the senior HR leader for our primary operations in Miamisburg, Ohio, our Canadian operations, and will soon assume responsibility for Fort Wayne, Indiana. You will be a key member of the Identification Solutions North America leadership team and provide HR partnership to the North America General Manager. In this role you will have the opportunity to directly support the North America commercial, innovation, and technical organizations while overseeing the HR Generalists in Miamisburg and Fort Wayne in their leadership of manufacturing operations. You will make a significant impact in accelerating our strategic business plans by leading HR strategies and key initiatives that enhance our capabilities, structure, talent, and culture in exceeding our business goals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Identification Solutions’ strategic plan and oversee key HR strategies that accelerate sales growth, profitability, and sustainable success
  • Partner with the General Manager and the North America leadership team and exert influence on key people and organizational strategies that tie back to our strategic plan
  • Elevate capabilities across the entire organization, including shop floor, front office, and field teams
  • Partner with functional leaders to enhance team structures based on current and future business needs while fostering organizational effectiveness, efficient, and teamwork
  • Lead succession planning and talent development strategies
  • Lead efforts to enhance employee engagement including employee surveys, listening sessions, and driving action plans
  • Make Identification Solutions an even better place to work by championing initiatives centered on Avery Dennison’s values, including integrity, diversity, inclusion, sustainability, teamwork, and excellence
  • Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to add world-class talent that accelerates results and strengthens succession depth across North America
  • Coach managers and employees to strengthen employee relations 
  • Provide leadership to and ensure development of HR Generalists 
  • Participate as a member of the broader cross-divisional North America HR team to identify and implement best practices
  • Work with the Director of HR, Identification Solutions Global and with corporate HR leaders in designing and deploying functional best practices

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a degree in a related field; Master’s preferred
  • 7+ years of HR management experience with a background in both sales/commercial and manufacturing preferred
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen in additional to practical HR skills
  • Strong background in talent management and succession planning
  • Employee relations experience at all organizational levels, including shop floor/manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching and influencing leaders in decision-making process
  • People leadership experience
  • Ability to lead, influence, and get results through a matrixed organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to make "tough decisions" and deliver meaningful feedback
  • Experience developing comprehensive people and organizational strategies within a sophisticated manufacturing setting
  • Position is based in the Miamisburg, Ohio office with some work-from-home flexibility based on business needs
  • Ability to accommodate occasional domestic travel, including to Fort Wayne, Indiana
