Job Overview 

The Senior Workforce Management Manager is responsible for identifying strategies, priorities and providing direction for both scheduling and deployment initiatives for their teams. Develops strategy and implementation plans to integrate initiatives in partnership within Workforce Management functions including Workload and Staffing, Scheduling, Deployment, Time and Payroll Services and Reporting. Ensures integration with line of business operating partners, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, GHRO, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Experience Integration in addition to other key partners across the Disneyland Resort to collaborate and create a consistent and efficient approach for problem solving, leveraging resources/work, and sharing of best practices in support of frontline Leaders and Cast.  

As the Senior Manager you will be responsible for the development, execution and sustainment of scheduling initiatives and processes in support of line of business operations partners. Objectives should drive a positive, inclusive Cast experience, enhanced guest experience and support favorable financial results. The vision behind the objectives should complement both site and line of business priorities. 
 
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, energetic, detail-oriented, and innovative, with the ability to make decisions and take action. They build and maintain strong relationships with key partners across the company to ensure work is conducted in a collaborative manner and delivers on Resort overall objectives. They focus on leadership development of their team, providing challenges and support in the growth of their team’s leadership skills and abilities, provides consistent performance feedback centered on succession planning. They must demonstrate strong listening skills, proactively examine, research and ask questions to ensure clarity to deliver quality and value added support. They must have a positive yet professional presence, build a strong reputation of expertise and trust to influence business decisions and direction through persuasion, negotiation, idea contribution and personal presence in support of our operations partners.   

Responsibilities 

  • Proactively leads ongoing development of the hourly and salaried scheduling team members to ensure they are integrated, balanced and organized in a way that best complements the line of business operations partners 

  • Works across senior and executive leadership partners to set clear vision, strategy and direction for the broader organization 

  • Builds on-going communication plans/tools to support the scheduling vision and strategy; owns execution of plan and tactics including all aspects of production leveraging appropriate partners as needed 

  • Leverages technology to drive an analytical approach to labor planning, scheduling and deployment strategies by balancing service and cost management objectives 

  • Contributes to the definition of staffing requirements, hiring and training plans, and scheduling methodologies that balance cost with ability to attract and retain quality Cast Members that consistently deliver a world-class experience to our guests  

  • Provide centralized scheduling and both centralized and decentralized deployment management support for site operations team 

  • Leads a team in a complex and ever changing environment, keeps multiple deliverables and activities on track while maintaining the team’s optimum productivity 

  • Conducts interactions necessary to achieve results through cross-functional, integrated and well-coordinated teams at all levels within Workforce Management and supporting partners 

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the philosophical operating principles of the site Executive Team 

  • Ensures decisions that impact the operation are in alignment with the philosophical operating principles of the business 

  • Proactive partnership with a variety of functional teams including but not limited to, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Global HR Operations, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Experience integration, DWSS Payroll Services, etc., to support HR and administrative functions including creating and sustaining tools and resources for leaders and Cast 

  • Has in-depth knowledge and upholds standards for Company policies, union collective bargaining agreements, California labor laws, and Company health and safety protocols. 

  • Maintains high levels of confidentiality and be trusted with sensitive information 

  • Oversees the support and advancement of Workforce management systems and tools, including scheduling, deployment, time and pay, Cast self-service apps, and the Hub 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5 years in a key leadership role with responsibilities for leading and developing a successful team 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization 

  • Serve as a change agent, taking calculated risks to integrate processes, remove barriers and align performance goals 

  • Proven success developing and mentoring leaders and working with a diverse Cast and emphasizes diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the work environment 

  • Proven ability to work both at the strategic and tactical level as well as demonstrated flexibility and professional maturity 

  • A successful track record in prior roles leading complex projects; recognized as a key partner and contributor to the overall success within their organization 

  • Proven strength in partnering: ability to utilize knowledge and resources to positively influence within the work environment 

  • Strong networking skills and ability to collaborate and influence all levels of the organization 

  • Self-motivated and able to find creative solutions to opportunities 

  • Convey an appropriate sense of urgency while identifying opportunities, developing alternatives and recommending solutions to complicated business issues in a self-sufficient and highly collaborative environment 

  • Proven success developing and mentoring leaders and working with a diverse Cast 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight timelines for deliverables 

  • Proven understanding of internal and external workforce and labor issues and challenges 

  • Demonstrated strong analytical, business planning, operation, and integration skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Operations Leadership experience 

  • Workforce Management Leadership experience 

  • High level of interest and experience with Disney Theme Parks and Resorts
