Job Summary:

This position will report to the OTV Traffic Team Copy Manager. The Senior Traffic Specialist should be developing a well-rounded traffic background, and should embrace cross-training in other traffic functions. The primary responsibilities will be to assist in the general oversight of the copy team, as well as support to the inventory and programming teams. The Senior Traffic Specialist will work with the ABC OCTO managers as a steering committee for the overall goals and direction of the department, as well as work with all specialists to mentor/train when necessary.

The success of the Senior Traffic Specialist will be measured by accuracy of logs, quality control of incoming broadcast materials, achieved best practices, and improved standardization in WideOrbit. The Senior Traffic Specialist will not have direct reports, but will work closely with the management team to lead.

Responsibilities:

• In addition to regular coverage of a station, daily tasks will flow depending on need. Vacation relief will dictate the primary daily goal, as well as special events and projects. Should be prepared each day to fill in for copy or logs.
  • Should be able troubleshoot any failed submissions or client requests
  • Will work closely with the OCTO management team and Disney Ad Sales team on spot approvals, especially during the political seasons.
  • Will participate in daily reviews of copy double checks.
  • Will do weekly advance reviews of paid programming, and work to resolve unfilled avails and missing content.
  • To support programming, should be able to apply program materials, as well as check timings and program availability in iTX.
• Will work with the OCTO management team to onboard new employees, and participate in the new employee training process.
• Will assist on research for problem resolution.
• Will execute database cleanup as directed, as well as working sessions with the OCTO management team to formulate new strategies to achieve standardization goals.
• Will daily review all incident tickets, participate in the daily EDM ticket call, and follow up as needed.
• Will participate in weekly EDM Traffic call.
• Special projects as assigned, including events like Oscars, NBA Finals, etc.
  • As needed, can be requested to be on-call for airtime support during these events
  • Tasks required during these special projects will include (but not be limited to):
    • Tracking QC review of spots
    • Early application of copy applied to team for more thorough double checks
    • Post-mortem reviews of events to assess current process and participate in strategy sessions to improve going forward
• Provide a superb level of customer service to the ABC OTV stations, as well as outside clients.
• Testing new WO software releases, and to provide feedback on those releases and other enhancements needed in WO.
• Desire to move into management level on the OTV Traffic team.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of traffic experience.
• Experience in multiple traffic functions is ideal, but willingness to train. Operational knowledge of promotions and master control functions is preferred.
• Familiarity with broadcast sales protocol, and has exceptional standards and expectations for accurate information on logs.
• Ability to communicate effectively, especially via phone and email.
• WideOrbit experience desired, but knowledge of other traffic systems considered.
• Excel, Word, and PowerPoint experience required.
