About the Position

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for providing testing expertise, guidance, and oversight. The successful candidate plays a role in providing advice, guidance and monitoring emerging technologies.

The candidate will demonstrate the Professional Technology Skills including the ability to:

Business Process Testing:

Responsible for organizational commitment to high standards in human factors. 

Specify ergonomics standards and methods to meet organizational objectives. 

Set the policy and standards for business process testing. 

Manage the design and execution of business process tests, usability evaluations, network and business trials, confidence tests.

Maintain an overview of the business environment, required outcomes and potential exposures

Testing:

Coordinate and manage planning of the system and/or acceptance tests, including software security testing, within a development or integration project or program. 

Take responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities and coordinates the execution of these activities. 

Provide authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Defines and communicates the test strategy for the project. 

Manage all test processes, including test plans, resources, costs, timescales, test deliverables and traceability.

Manage client relationships with respect to testing matters. 

Identify process improvements and contributes to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice.

Qualifications:

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

As a Senior Software Engineer at Cox Automotive you will:

Drive test strategy conversations and defines individual test cases, integrated end-to-end test scenarios and validation criteria. 

Analyze products for completeness and consistent user experiences.

Review opinion labs and customer satisfaction surveys and reproduces findings to validate a defect or bug exists.

Collaborate on black box testing with a goal of improving overall quality of products.

Review tooling for QA best practices (automation, performance, low code/no-code solutions)

Ensure system and software quality by writing, maintaining, running, analyzing the family of tests (e.g., unit, functional, integrated, regression, automated, exploratory, performance).

Analyze and synthesize actual results compared to expected results, troubleshoots, and assists in the diagnosis of unintended results, and logs errors to investigate cause.

Communicate test results to stakeholders.

Coordinate testing activities with remote teams as needed.

Actively work with less experienced QA analysts providing technical guidance and oversight.

Lead troubleshooting of problems and assists in getting problems appropriately prioritized, assigned, fixed, tested, and closed.

Actively participate in the engineering community, staying up to date on new testing technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

3-5 years’ experience with software development and/or testing tools and processes. Experience with testing frameworks, consumer-facing web, and mobile applications.

Working experience with regulatory standards testing processes.

3-5 years’ experience with creating and maintaining test scripts in an automated testing framework.

Working experience in delivering software products in an engineering or operations role.

Working experience in development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, iterative).

What We Look For (preferred): 

Master’s Degree in Computer Science

Working knowledge in analysis, design, and programming

Scrum Developers Certification or equivalent
