Overview
Position has packaging responsibilities for the business in Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) and Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) supporting the 12 manufacturing, remanufacturing, and distribution locations across North America. This position is responsible for achieving performance metrics aligned to the strategy and goals set by Meritor. The individual interacts with all levels of the organization. A thorough knowledge of industrial and / or automotive packaging is essential for position success. The candidate selected for this position must be someone who would ultimately be able to fill the role of Manager of Global Packaging for Meritor.
Job Responsibilities:
• Drives cost reduction initiatives involving packaging to carry out materials, subassemblies and finished-goods across the North American network.
• Prevents any possible decline in operations-related dimensions at the floor such as safety, ergonomics, and quality.
• Pursues a future state where packaging assists Meritor to meet/exceed quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Analyzes data from Oracle and detects opportunities to further decrease costs.
• Develops and manages the packaging interface with key suppliers to reduce asset investment, to increase profitability, and to minimize risks and disruptions to the CVS and CVA Supply Chain.
• Supports and pursues the achievement of AOP objectives utilizing packaging capabilities across the network.
• Serves as the packaging Subject-Matter Expert when pairing with other functional areas during the implementation of new programs.
• Connects and develops relationships with key people in other functions and levels.
• Teams with internal and external customers to increase EBITDA margin based on packaging interactions.
• Resolves packaging issues affecting customer satisfaction.
• Creates and implements innovative ideas.
• Stimulates others to try new packaging approaches.
• Develops common visions despite of obstacles; creates opportunities and takes action to seize competitive advantage based upon packaging capabilities.
• Involves and links suppliers, sites, corporate and customers for all packaging matters.
• Plans, executes and completes sound packaging projects to optimize manufacturing and/or transportation footprint.
• Thinks, designs, and implements packaging attending the voice of the customer supported by industry regulations and best-in-class requirements.
• Sets standards, creates processes and carries out systems to minimize variances that depend on packaging utilization.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Packaging, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in multiple aspects of Packaging Engineering & Design
• Strong computer experience to include using Oracle for reporting and data mining as well as CAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate from idea design through project implementation, always mindful of the concerns of all customers.
• Personal computer skills to track information assemble reports, present projects and ideas, and complete administrative responsibilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel 25% to 50% of the time.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills in project management
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for interaction, negotiation and coordination responsibilities
