Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company values risk management as essential to the vitality, reputation, and success of its business. The Enterprise Risk Management department provides the highest quality technical and professional services for the protection and experience of our Guests, Cast and Business Partners. The department procures insurance across the enterprise in addition to providing claim oversight, mitigation, financial & strategic direction. The team also has responsibilities for Disney’s two mature and large Captive Insurance Companies, risk management department technology (RMIS), actuarial studies and overall data analytics to support risk mitigation across the Walt Disney Company and subsidiaries.

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management and Captive Insurers manages the two Captive Insurers (Alameda & Buena Vista Insurance) & supports the overall broader enterprise Risk Management team by providing technical analysis, risk strategy and leveraging the captives to drive down the overall long term cost of risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide multidimensional risk analysis & strategy reviews to lower cost and support insurance procurement decision making across the enterprise
  • Manage highly sensitive and confidential data
  • Provide proactive and continuous risk taking recommendations including competitive advantaged analysis which prevents strategic objectives
  • Manuscript and manage captive insurance policies each year
  • Leverage captive surplus to optimize strategic risk financing decisions
  • Evaluate and implement loss portfolio transfers when feasible
  • Run complex reconciliations for financial statement oversight and development
  • Manage Actuarial study for AIC and BVIC (if needed)
  • Manage payable/receivables and develop audit of costs allocated to captives
  • Support all regulatory audits (Dept of Insurance, IRS, etc.)
  • Forecasting, financial variance reporting, tracking G&A expenses and managing budgets
  • Support captive underwriting efforts including profitability and loss ratio reports
  • Manage captive premium models & business unit underwriting annually

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven years in Risk Management
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas, create Pivot Tables, write simple macros
  • Strong presentation skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Initiative and critical thinking and detail orientated
  • Minimum of 5 years of Captive experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA is preferred

Required Education

4-year degree in data science, technology, risk management, business or accounting
