Job Description

JOB DUTIES:  The Senior Supplier Finance Analyst is expected to provide technical expertise and guidance to peers as well as recommendations to supervisor on financial risk issues.

Incumbent will have comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s business and finance policies and practices, systems, processes and procedures.  Incumbent will apply finance knowledge to activities and will participate in and/or lead multifunctional teams.

The incumbent will lead projects to conclusion by compiling information, analyzing data, recommending and implementing solutions and will provide information and analysis used to make and/or influence business decisions.  Typically, projects and decisions will impact medium to high-risk issues. 

The incumbent is capable of handling broader business issues such as delivering presentations to business unit and corporate leadership teams, working with cross-functional disciplines to solve business problems, and using business acumen to support a broad range of activities.

The Senior Supplier Finance Analyst responsibilities are of high complexity and may include portions of the following:

  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Interpretation of Financial viability of Suppliers for assurance of Caterpillar supply
  • Deep dives analysis and potential business plan forecasts
  • Supplier Expedited Payment approvals
  • Supplier Finance or Supply Chain Finance reporting, metrics
  • Protecting Corporate Assets through UCC filings and facilitating Tooling Bailment Agreements
  • Presentations and training to various purchasing organizations
  • Conduct Supplier meetings with regard to viability issues

Incumbent will interface with Caterpillar employees from many disciplines, customers and suppliers throughout the world.

The Senior Supplier Finance Analyst demonstrates very good communication skills and has a comprehensive knowledge of their business unit, suppliers and customers.

Some travel required (5%-10% of working time)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

  • A 4-year degree in finance, business administration or accounting is required.
  • CIMA, CMA, ACCA to 2 or 3 level
  • Two to three years of practical finance experience is required especially in any type of ratio analysis
  • Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, judgment and decision-making skills. 
  • Needs to possess strong personal computer knowledge, excel is critical, Power BI advantageous.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to work effectively and independently with people at all levels within and outside the department.  
  • Must have the ability to learn and adapt quickly to a variety of work environments and circumstances. 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA: (used to further short list)

  • Fully Qualified CIMA, CMA, ACCA
  • Requires knowledge of company policies, practices and systems. 
  • Project management skills and excellent team leadership and communications skills are desirable.
  • Knowledge of other business functions is desirable.
