This role is primarily focused on Casting and Machined components for our North American Brakes business unit. This position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of Global Commodity Strategies designed to leverage the purchase of raw materials, components, and various cast metal products related to the North American Brakes Business Unit and represents the purchasing manager in various business unit meetings.
Responsible for execution of purchasing transactions and related system maintenance, program coordination, analysis and reporting, in accordance with the company's purchasing policies and procedures. Supports the needs and expectations of the company's engineering, manufacturing, and the business units for elements of cast brake components.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assists in the development and executes implementation of commodity strategies in collaboration with supply chain, sales, and manufacturing team members.
• Conducts and coordinates pricing and contract negotiations
• Identifies opportunities to leverage the company's volume into advantageous supply agreements.
• Ability to identify and execute savings opportunities, implement sourcing strategies, and quickly execute tasks to realize benefits.
• Drives cost reduction efforts and ideas through implementation to meet annual targets.
• Supports manufacturing plants with major supply issues within the commodity.
• Issue and maintain purchase orders to suppliers
• Perform system maintenance tasks to support engineering changes.
• Perform tasks related to debit memos, receipt reconciliation, material rejection reports, payables, etc.
• Ensuring all active purchase items have an approved source. Identify, manage and implement re-sourcing activities (from negotiations to product approval to purchase orders).
• Ensuring system accuracy to enable proper material planning.
• Monitor supplier performance to key metrics and liaison the company's manufacturing plants and suppliers to support continuous improvement related to quality, cost, delivery, and service.
• Ability to interpret and communicate engineering drawings and specifications.
• Customer service oriented; responsive to needs of internal customers & suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or industry related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related work environment.
• Minimum 3 years Casting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of quality procedures including PPAP, pre-awards, and technical reviews would be an asset.
• Knowledge of raw material indexes and pricing
