The Role

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated Director of Cloud Engineering / Squad Leader, Observability Logging and Analytics to join Enterprise Cloud Computing (ECC) and work in a diverse, open, and transparent culture where you will contribute to powering the next generation of Fidelity’s digital services through innovative solutions using the latest cloud native technologies and leading-edge engineering practices.

This role is for our Logging & Telemetry squad in Cloud Observability. The team blends deep technology & business expertise with a passion for exploring new technologies while working in an open and transparent way. We are passionate about opensource contribution, sharing our expertise and knowledge with the engineering community, participating in foundations like the CNCF and CDF while embracing a continuous learning approach supported by a dedicated learning day each week.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Extensive knowledge of Splunk logging, preferably Splunk Cloud

• Extensive architecture experience designing and building highly scalable & resilient cloud platforms.

• Deep understanding on how to design and operate platform-wide services to tackle complex problems.

• Experience working with vendors to drive roadmap and requirement conversations.

• Extensive hands on experience with at least two programming languages.

• Extensive hands-on cloud (AWS & Azure) engineering experience.

• Strong understanding of coding patterns and engineering best practices.

• Extensive experience with CI/CD practices and technologies.

• Exceptional mentoring and coaching skills.

• Recognized for driving decisions collaboratively and ensuring follow through with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong stakeholder leadership skills and the ability to manage priorities and capability requirements aligned to business needs.

• Passionate about working in a DevOps culture.

Bonus skills

• Practical experience with Prometheus, Opentelemetry, Grafana, M3, or other opensource observability tools as a user or administrator

• Practical experience with Datadog as a user or administrator

• Cloud Architect Certifications in AWS and/or Azure.

• Experience working within the opensource eco-system including being in tune with opensource projects, trends, and strategy.
