What’s the role about?
We are recruiting for 2 permanent Space Planners to join the Space Planning team.
The physical estate is facing unprecedented challenges and whilst the business strategy sets out the importance of shops there is a massive shift to online. The changing role of the shop makes this an exciting and challenging opportunity to decipher and bring to life the customer journey within the planning of the shop floor.
As a Space Planner, in the Store of the Future directorate, you will work under the guidance of your Space Planning Manager to support propositional and space feasibility activity, building optimised space blueprints and developing space strategies through the in-depth assortment and shop expertise. You will deliver sales and profit improvements through the planning and delivery of change to shop floor space to deliver the propositional strategy.
What will you be doing?
You will realise the assortment and customer strategy onto the shop floor delivering customer-centric adjacencies whilst supporting the business’ design and omnichannel aspirations.
Taking every opportunity to drive commercial return, deliver an outstanding customer journey and reduce working capital in the development of the space strategy and all projects.
Using your analytical and commercial skills to plan and optimise space to deliver profitability and a great customer experience.
You will be a key part in influencing CPG propositional strategies with recommendations for value-additive opportunities and optimal physical estate locations for delivery. Support Buyers and Merchandisers and CPG leads in feasibility scoping and business case building.
You will also be able to effectively communicate the use of space to shops in a format that is efficient to execute.

What you'll have
Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and make recommendations
Proven experience in planning, organisation and orchestration
Strong commercial awareness in the retail industry
Strong stakeholder management skills communicating effectively cross-functionally
What else could you bring?
Experience in a trading and/or in John Lewis shops is an advantage
Experience in Problem Solving.
