At Cox, we’re forward-thinking innovators who put people first. Our award-winning workplace culture is centered on inclusion and kindness, and we’re looking for people to join our mission to be a force for good in the world. Come build a better future with us across automotive, communications, the environment and more.

We want to do everything we can to keep our employees safe and healthy. Therefore, where permitted by applicable law, you will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this U.S.-based job. Reasonable accommodations for medical and religious objections will of course be considered.

Keep reading to learn more about this opportunity to join the Cox family of businesses.

It takes a special kind of superstar to be a Sourcing Manager.  After all, this is a person who drives the execution of Cox’s sourcing strategy for our Outside Plant Network (Cabinet, Enclosures & Fiber Management) sourcing events.  This is a person who handles the sourcing process, tackling everything from selecting a diverse suite of suppliers to helping us achieve diversity spend.  This hardworking wizard keeps their team aligned and focused on the execution and results of every project.  Of course, they stay amazingly focused themselves, delivering impressive savings while balancing the needs and desired results of our biz and our boundary partners.

In short, the Sourcing Manager is a superhero in biz casual attire.  So, if you think you might like to suit up and jump into some serious sourcing management, stay with us…we’ve got lots to share.

What You’ll Do

As you can imagine, a job title like Sourcing Manager means you’ll spend a good deal of time doing some strategic sourcing.  This includes defining and executing on our sourcing work for any necessary initiatives, making sure that our security, technology, and biz requirements are clear and in place.  You’ll also develop sourcing activities and see them through to completion, evaluate bids and pick the suppliers who will best serve our business needs.  Of course, we want to have just the right volume of suppliers, so you’ll help create alliances with them to establish just the right mix and balance. You’ll give guru-like guidance on improvement opportunities to ensure our sourcing strategy is on track and on target.  You’ll communicate those strategies – as well as objectives and performance reports – to our senior management team and business partners.  We’ll also look to you to solicit bids for requested goods.

You’ll negotiate pricing and terms of contracts, as well as contract terms and conditions to keep risk low and satisfaction high.  You’ll evaluate vendor performance and compliance as we prepare for renewing contracts to ensure we’re always working with the very best partners. You’ll also oversee contract & compliance management, as you analyze our contract usage (every six months) as well as our spend under contract, looking for ways we can up our game and shore up costs.  You’ll maintain playbooks that log our best approaches for staying efficient.  You’ll also team up with our Category Managers to assure compliance with any terms we negotiate.

Of course, keeping our supplier relationships strong is also essential for this gig.  That means developing strategies and models that will help us evaluate supplier capabilities, while also supporting the development of those supplier capabilities.  After all, we’ll know we go together when we grow together.

 What’s In It For You?

Really good question, and we have some good answers that we hope you like.

•   We want you to feel cared for and respected, and that starts with Cox’s highly competitive pay and other compensation perks (401k + company matching, comprehensive medical benefits, etc.).  We also offer free Cox Communications Internet and other Cox discounted services, tuition reimbursement for academic pursuits, adoption assistance, paid time off to volunteer, childcare and eldercare resources, pet insurance and much more.

•   Good work should be rewarded, and not just with a healthy paycheck.  The Cox culture is one that values people more than technology, so it’s our goal to make sure you feel recognized for your contributions.  It’s also important to work alongside colleagues who “get you.”  At Cox, you’ll find a workplace where relationships are crafted with care and successes are celebrated with high fives. We strive to create an environment where you can do you, and everyone from leadership to new hires can support and feel supported.

•   Growth is a good thing, and you’ll have opportunities to learn and train so you can sharpen your skills and explore opportunities across the Cox family of businesses that will continue to challenge and empower you. In the future, you may have the opportunity to cultivate customer relationships in other sectors where we operate like cleantech, health care and new forms of transportation mobility.

Who You Are

It goes without saying that you’re amazing.  Along with your inherent amazingness, we’re counting on you to bring a few other qualifications to the job.  These include a minimum of five years of experience in the wonderful world of sourcing/procurement, as well as a demonstrated proficiency with the 7-step strategic sourcing process. You’ve got super solid skills in the realms of analytics, reporting and finances, as well as know-how around sourcing processes & best practices.

You’re an incredibly potent problem solver, as well as a capable communicator, collaborator, negotiator, and organizer. You jump at opportunities, managing multiple projects without someone standing over your shoulder.  Your reports and presentations create authentic connections with people because you’re rock solid in your written and verbal communication skills.  You know your way around MS Office, from Visio to Excel, PPT to Word.  You have the power of persuasion, and use it for good, helping others see the benefits of our policies and procedures so that we can all be aligned in our efforts to do our very best for Cox and our customers.  Speaking of customers, you’re a seasoned pro when it comes to customer service.  It’s sorta in your DNA.

Qualifications:

Beyond these qualities, we’re hoping you might have a few of the following experiences in your history as well.  They’re not a must, but it would be sweet if you had any of these going for you:

 Preferred qualifications:

A university degree in Business, Engineering or related field.

Some knowledge of the telecommunications market.

Category Management experience.

Some prior consulting experience.

Category expertise in the field of Outside Plant Materials or category experience in engineering, manufacturing, distribution.
