About the role:

ASOS is a unique and forward-thinking company which understands the opportunities data and technology has on driving the business forward. The Commercial Planning & Optimisation tech team are responsible for providing technology solutions to support our Buying and Merchandising teams in planning, selecting and creating our products as well as managing our relationships with our suppliers.

With around 5000 new products going live every week there is huge scope to provide capabilities which allow our colleagues to improve their efficiency and make more effective decisions driving a better product offer to our fashion loving twentysomething customers.

You will need to have a keen interest in technology as well as a passion for understanding how ASOS works, our business colleagues’ roles, the challenges they face and a desire to make a difference.

This role would suit either someone from a computer science / engineering background keen to understand Buying and Merchandising or someone from a B&M or retailing background who is keen to transition into a more technical developer role.

What you’ll be doing:

Your role as a Solution Analyst will focus on configuration and development of technology solutions working across the full Software Development Lifecycle in an agile team.

  • Work with Business Analysts and end users to understand the needs and value to be delivered on new initiatives
  • Configure/develop the application to incrementally and rapidly deliver value
  • Work alongside testers to ensure the solution has effective coverage through automation
  • Support the release process and provide post go live support
  • Ensure service levels are met with regard to batch and on-line performance
  • Triage user requests / issues to produce a detailed response and resolution
  • Understand and provide impact analysis of proposed functional changes both in technical and process terms
  • Identify and help deliver improvements to the team process with a focus on improving flow and quality

Whether you’re experienced in software configuration & development, are a recent graduate or are coming from a retailing background looking to move into a technology role we’d love you to apply.

We are looking for self-motivated/passionate individuals who are able to craft quality solutions to our end users and have the following key attributes

  • Experience in configuring or delivering software in an iterative, continuous delivery environment that ships value frequently
  • Excellent communicator, mentor and negotiator
  • Good understanding or keen interest in learning Merchandise Planning Processes (Financial & Assortment Planning, Product Lifecycle Management)

It would be great if you also had

  • Understand typical system landscape of a large retail organisation and dependencies on planning systems
  • Understanding of agile testing frameworks, providing assurance on complex integrated systems
  • Experience with administrating or configuring Merchandise Planning applications

We’d love it if you’ve used

  • A history of working with one or more of these languages: C#, Java, Python, Bash or PowerShell
  • Good knowledge of Azure or transferable knowledge from AWS or similar
  • Experience of Oracle Databases, Oracle RPAS or PLM systems (e.g. Centric8)
  • Experience of Linux
