 Through recent acquisitions, the Azure for Operators organisation within Microsoft leads the way in cloud native communication software, with award winning solutions providing highly scalable and fault tolerant systems that run right in the core of over 1,000 service providers and mobile operators.  

 Microsoft are continuing to invest in growing this new organisation, giving you the opportunity to become part of a global team of engineers responsible for architecting and delivering mobile core solutions using cloud native technologies.  We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced leaders at all levels to join the current mobile voicemail team, to learn and grow, and deliver amazing impact to our business and customers with innovation and technology and by inspiring and developing their teams. Our mobile voicemail team develops and deploys Azure native solutions targeting 100Ms of mailboxes to the largest mobile operators on the planet, providing exciting technical challenges, the opportunity to work with teams of very talented engineers, and the ability to have substantial impact in the industry.  

These roles involve being based in our Enfield, North London, UK office, leading a team or teams located in multiple locations across the UK, Europe and India, and working with Microsoft’s globally distributed Azure organisation.  Microsoft’s hybrid work policy supports varied and inclusive working patterns, including up to 50% home working by default, and options for part-time working. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach an existing team of software engineers and managers; create clarity, communicate vision and strategy to the team; provide expert guidance and advice, best practices and trainings, nurture a team culture with emphasis on quality, customer obsession, engineering agility, and inclusiveness 
  • Drive adoption of Microsoft policies and processes within the team 
  • Work with program management and other stakeholders to create robust product roadmaps and engineering plans, trading off quality, security, customer satisfaction, cost and timescales, and ensure the team executes on these plans 
  • Consistently identify, reward and manage growth of highly performing engineering talent and help all team members achieve the most in their careers 
  • Grow the team, ensuring diverse viewpoints and capabilities needed to achieve current and future business objectives 
  • Lead the continuous improvement of engineering and quality practices. Work across business groups to ensure the long-term integrity of a product area. Demonstrate personal commitment to technical advancement. Guide the organization to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions 
  • Communicate team plans, strategies and status to peers, stakeholders and organization leaders
