Azure Storage team is chartered with building, managing and running the Persistent Cloud Storage for Microsoft Azure Cloud. Azure Storage consists of a Storage Platform which currently powers many different storage services – Blob Storage, Table Storage (NoSQL Key Value store), Queue Storage, Data Lake Storage, File Storage, Disk Storage, etc. We are one of the foundational services in the Azure Cloud. The service hosts data from some of the largest companies in the world plus supports all of Microsoft’s largest online businesses including Xbox, Teams and Bing and has scaled to store exabytes of customer data and we are currently designing and building systems for Zettabyte scale to support demand growth for the coming years. You will have an opportunity to make high impact changes on a daily basis as you build a hyper scale storage system that may indirectly or directly be used daily by your friends and family.

Responsibilities

The team’s charter is to design and implement protocols and features for ensuring availability, consistency, and durability of exabytes of data across thousands of nodes. We are looking for Software Engineers with a strong and proven record of top-notch design and code development skills.  This position will play a key role in designing and building Storage Control Plane, while delivering continued improvements as well as pathbreaking features at high quality.  The candidate will work on the latest server technologies and highly distributed systems, with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, consistency and debuggability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional development experience in C/C++/C#/Java/etc.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming.
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms with strong testing, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot/debug and resolve complex production service issues at scale.
• Ability to plan, schedule and deliver quality software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in designing and building large scale distributed systems.
• Experience in cloud backend development and operation, including performance, reliability, resilience, and scale-out.
