The Role
The Workplace Investing (WI) Systems group is seeking an experienced and dedicated software engineer to help craft , build and support next generation / emerging products . This individual will be encouraged to work closely with application developers, other developers and support engineers. The ideal candidate has a background which is strong in at least strong two of the following:
1. Java
2. Database
3. REST API
4. Angular.
This position will be based full time in Durham, NC.
The Expertise and Skills You Have
BS or above in Computer Science or related field
3+ years web/application development experience with a strong working knowledge of Java/Spring
Exposure to Agile development methodology is required
Knowledge of client-side MVC frameworks and/or experience with one or more popular JavaScript toolkits (jQuery, Angular)
Knowledge of building and supporting server-side components using REST API and backend SQL /Stored Procedure Components
Experience building and deploying applications in a DevOps environment using CI/CD tools; experience with Git/Bitbucket Server (Stash), Jenkins, and uDeploy are a plus.
Experience or understanding of work tracking software (JIRA is preferred)
You are able to work in a fast paced, environment to achieve group goals
You are able to partner optimally with your technology and business partners
You have good verbal and written communication skills
You have a desire and aptitude for learning new technologies
You have experience with Java, Angular, and database technologies (Oracle is preferred).
Supporting and developing web applications for our Student Debt products in the Emerging Product Domain
Working closely with application owners, architecture and business sponsors
Rapid prototyping and MVPs to validate good and new ideas quickly
Writing source code, adapting existing components, and unit testing developed components.
Ensuring designs meet performance, security, usability, and reliability and scalability requirements.
Working optimally in a team collaboration type environment with other engineers and analysts
The Team
You will be responsible for supporting and developing high-quality application components using full stack skills relating to various products in the Student Debt product line. You will craft, code and unit test new functionality in an Agile environment. In addition to day-to-day technical support responsibilities, you will also be responsible for development tasks, as well as building and enhancing existing applications.
