 Azure Data SQL team is looking for talented engineers who can help define and design the next set of technologies to build a state-of-the-art database to power the next wave of cloud-native modern applications. You will work closely with our database experts and solve challenging problems to modernize SQL Server Engine. You will impact customers that span across SQL platforms from SQL Edge on IOT devices to SQL Server and Azure SQL DB in the cloud. Our vision is to create the best-in-class operational database that integrates with Azure Services and powers the next generation of applications.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities span across several of the following: 

• Identifying and driving prototype projects for quick evaluation of design ideas
• Work on solving variety of challenges from database systems in C++ to distributed systems in C#
• Enhancing Azure SQL DB/SQL Server’s capability and performance to process semi-structured or unstructured data such as json and free text
• Modernizing Azure SQL DB with new APIs for data retrieval
• Building the next set of application developer features for SQL Server such as GraphQL and new T-SQL capabilities.
• Deepening Azure SQL DBs integration with other Azure features such as Azure Functions and Event Hub.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics or Physics or IT technical discipline.
• 2 years of industry experience in hands-on software design & development and industry programming experience in C/C++/C#/Java/Python OR other object-oriented programming languages.

Experience in these areas is a bonus: 

• Design and development experience in database engines, schema-less data indexing and search technologies, performance tuning and operating system internals  
• M.S./Ph.D. in Computer Science (or equivalent) with specialization in Systems areas.
