Job Description

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Warehouse development team within Supply Chain Technology. Working as part of a strong cross functional Agile team you will drive quality and technology forward bringing your skills and experience to bear across the team.

What you will be doing:

  • Work in an agile, cross functional team taking responsibility for the engineering team deliverables and quality whilst helping drive the delivery and technical competency of your team forward.
  • Work closely with team members and business stakeholders to gather and define requirements.
  • Be involved with the technical design of solutions for your team, working with the appropriate stakeholders including business, architecture and service.
  • Work with the Lead Developer/Solution Architect to ensure the team delivers to required quality and adheres to best practice.
  • Be expected to lead by example, be hands on, involved in all tasks and take on sprint backlog items.
  • Promote good engineering practices
  • To seek out and actively promote ideas and techniques in the community - both within ASOS and externally.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Proven experience of working in teams in the successful delivery of highly performing and high quality software systems.
  • Experience of Agile practices
  • Proven experience of working with business stakeholders, Product Owners and Business Analysts to analyse requirements, develop ideas and design solutions
  • Commitment to deliver high quality well tested software.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Strong broad base of knowledge in most of the following technologies:

  • .NET Core / .NET
  • ASP.NET Web API / MVC
  • MS SQL / Azure SQL
  • Cloud based development (preferably Azure)
  • TDD, BDD, ATDD processes
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Bootstrap
  • Software practices (SOLID, YAGNI, DRY, Design Patterns etc)
  • CI and CD tooling (preferably Azure DevOps / Team City / Octopus Deploy)
  • Git

Whilst not a requirement, it would be desirable if you also:

  • Have proven experience of developing warehouse systems, i.e. WMS, standalone operational applications.
  • Have working knowledge of the following:
  • Microservice architecture
  • Test Automation Technologies
  • Distributed message system design/development
  • Message Queuing Technologies (preferably Azure Service Bus)
