The Role 
Fidelity's Brokerage Technology Middleware Engineering and Governance (MEG) group is seeking a Software Engineer with the passion to be an integral part of crafting and developing applications with a focus on defining new capabilities, improvements, maintenance, and support. This role will require analysis and documentation of existing and new applications and systems and provide design recommendations to project teams for direction on implementation of the recommendations made. You will be responsible for ensuring a backlog of groomed work is ready for our development team to deliver upon.

The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring 

  • 2+ years of experience working in technology or a related field

  • Experience working with UNIX and Windows server environment

  • Experience with Cloud platforms, such as AWS, and Cloud based technologies

  • Planning and leading hardware migrations, O/S patches, software upgrades across Linux and Windows server farms

  • Knowledge of agile tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence

  • Ability to analyze issues and problem solve

  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, agile team with a focus on continuous delivery

  • Ability to think of ways to automate manual and repeatable processes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Java, Angular, jQuery and html, C/C++, JSON

  • Basic knowledge or prior experience in the financial services domain

  • Basic understanding of user experience principles, experience working with UX designers

  • Basic knowledge of MySQL or SQL and data analysis

  • Basic knowledge or prior experience in WebSphere, Apache, and Tomcat

  • Prior experience in middleware engineering and production support

  • Prior experience in automated deployments using Udeploy and Jenkins software

The Team
MEG is a dynamic group that handles middleware development and engineering solutions for Fidelity spanning all business units. MEG develops services, frameworks and sites to manage these solutions, as well as provides application monitors of these solutions for our customers. MEG will become the cross-business unit solutions group for middleware and infrastructure development for Fidelity and FBT.
