The Bloomberg Structured Products team is responsible for all data, cash flows and analytics of the two million plus bonds that make up the structured products universe. Because of how large and sophisticated these securities are, we own some of the largest databases, run the highest hit services that return billions of points of data, and maintain the best libraries of cash flow models at Bloomberg.

There are a lot of Engineering jobs to choose from at Bloomberg, with teams focusing on specific technological stacks. The Structured Products department is looking to build up its team of Software Engineers who are primarily leveraging the JavaScript programming ecosystem. Our mission is to make the Structured Product market as transparent as possible by acquiring, curating and publishing data in the most efficient ways. To achieve that we are constantly revisiting our technology and striving to adopt the most modern development and deployment practices. Our organization uses Javascript and TypeScript across the entire stack. The lively nature of the JavaScript community and ecosystem allows for rapid prototyping and iterating on functionalities of the Bloomberg Terminal that are critical to the Structured Product market. We use Javascript and TypeScript across a large variety of front-end applications and middleware. We have developed a number of production and test libraries to increase our velocity when building new applications and ensuring that they adhere to the highest quality standards.

What we’re looking for:

•  3+ years experience programming in JavaScript or TypeScript, or experience with a similar dynamic language
•  An understanding of modern design patterns and proven experience applying them
•  Experience with JS front end frameworks like React, Redux, or Angular
•  Comprehensive knowledge of data structures and algorithms
•  Strong problem solving skills
•  A thorough understanding of the systems you've worked on
•  BA, BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field

We'd love to see:

•  Experience with relational databases
•  Familiarity with open-source technologies
•  Experience with distributed systems
