We are the Core OS Linux Group at Microsoft. We recently open sourced our internal Microsoft Linux distribution, CBL-Mariner GitHub for Azure 1P services and edge appliances which is now used by products across AKS-HCI, EFLOW, Azure Percept, WSL etc. We’re growing and looking to add enthusiastic developers to build a distributed Linux powered Kubernetes platform and deliver technological innovation for a wide range of products.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will design and build multiple features that enable Azure first party services and edge appliances come together to create a Kubernetes distributed edge platform, ready for powering the needs across various sectors – from 5G telco to Industry 4.0 and Manufacturing. You will design code across multiple projects, partnering with internal teams in multiple geographies.  You will work closely with the broader CNCF and Linux community, contributing code upstream.  And you will work closely with customers to fix problems encountered in using Linux in the Azure cloud and edge platforms. Ã¢â‚¬Â¯You will define and push the limits of innovative technologies -- working with the latest hardware, the largest servers, and even larger datacenters. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications  

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience 
• 2+ years software development with, C++, Golang, Rust or other object-oriented programming languages 

• Experience in building, shipping and operating reliable, distributed solutions 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Experience with workload/container orchestration using Kubernetes, similar platforms or CNCF technologies. 
• Experience with container runtimes such as Docker, Rkt, runC, containers and how they are enabled by the underlying OS components. 

• Solid architecture, design, development, and testing skills 
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
• Contributing to open-source projects, like the Linux kernel or CNCF projects, is a plus.
