We are seeking a leader to own the cross platform scriptable player feature development and deployment across our Living Room device landscape. This is a new, rapidly growing team formed in 2020 to address the challenges of streaming video on devices ranging from Smart TVs to Set top boxes, Game consoles and Media streamers. You will be leading a team of engineers obsessing over the playback experience of millions of customers and building software and mechanisms to cope with the scale of our operation across multiple application tenants.

Key job responsibilities
This London based team owns the cross platform scriptable player feature development and deployment for Living Room. You will support multiple Amazon applications that want to play video in this space. Your team will build and operate the automation frameworks and quality of service dashboards that allow innovation and improvements to roll out to our customers in continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD). You manage team and individual engineers performance, stay on top of team welfare and grow your engineers towards their career goals.

A day in the life
You work closely with your team and product management to set a forward looking architectural vision that enables us to innovate on behalf of our customers. You are responsible for the software development and support operations of our Living Room Player technology stack. You observe key metrics and dashboards to know how our customers are doing. You foster relationships with key stake holders, tenants, partners and vendors to innovate and raise the playback experience bar for Amazon’s customers. You stay on top of team welfare and grow your engineers towards their career goals.

Prime Video is available in over 1 billion Living Room devices globally. Our team provides the playback experience for over 100 million weekly customer sessions. We delight our customers with new features and improvements continuously in an Agile environment. We obsess over reliability, quality and latency of playback. A successful candidate is able to learn quickly, delivers results in collaboration with other Living Room and Playback teams, insists on highest standards, has the ability to dive deep and looks at every opportunity to automate to help us operate at scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Relevant engineering experience
· Experience managing engineers
· Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Knowledge of video streaming, video and audio codecs.
· Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript and node.js
· Appreciation of embedded software development and working with restricted resources.
· Working with Agile methods, test automation, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD)
· Experience in AWS infrastructure and services
