We build systems that are distributed on a large scale, spanning our music apps, web player, and voice-forward audio engagement on mobile and Amazon Echo devices, powered by Alexa to support our customer base. As a Software Development Manager (SDM) for Amazon Music team you would be managing a talented team of engineers building technical solutions that offer exciting features to customers in countries / geographies having different culture than other global/established markets, fan-to-artist relationship, native experiences and content mix/variety experience. You are expected to be a leader have an entrepreneurial mindset to ideate and innovate on behalf of the customers in markets having local experiences and apply technology to develop solutions. You identify customer problems, demonstrate excellent judgement skills in decision making, mentoring and growing talent. You inspire people, motivate the team, drive the culture of innovation, implement engineering best practices, and have commitment and grit to deliver results. You define technical and business strategy which generate a positive experience to customers who consume music from different interfaces such as Android, iOS, Amazon Web/Shopping App, etc. depending on the local needs of the customers in markets. You are an engineering leader in driving Operational Excellence by defining strategies, influencing roadmaps and raising the bar to our customers. As an engineering leader, you would be working directly with Music product management and various engineering leaders across Amazon to influence, design and deliver the organizational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
· 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
· Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
· Deep hands-on technical expertise
· Experience with mobile technologies, Android and/or iOS
· Ability to handle multiple contending priorities in an energizing environment
· Experience managing quality assurance teams
· A deep understanding of software development in a team, and experience shipping software on time
· Extraordinary customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet daring timelines with optimal solutions
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills
· Clear, concise written and verbal communication
