Are you passionate about managing a team of engineers who are helping millions of customers around the world to subscribe to Prime, TV channels, Live events and purchase/rent movies? The *Checkout Experience* team owns customer experience of Checkout funnel in Prime Video Commerce across the Web, including mobile Web and WebView-driven devices — first-party (Fire TV, Echo) and third-party (Android, iOS). We own critical paths that enable customers to sign up for Prime, channels, live sports and music events; purchase or rent movies and TV shows without friction, which is core to Amazon business as we drive acquisition of new customers who love our services. We work across *full stack* and build reusable components and the underlying services that power them. Our platform enables rapid growth and international expansion of primevideo.com and our Amazon partners (Twitch). Our code is run by millions of customers every day across their favourite devices. We work with dozens of Prime Video teams across the world on large-scale high-impact projects, solve complex problems, learn from each other, and have fun.

The team is working projects in AWS and Checkout funnel efficiency across devices. The team vision is to make Checkout on customer preferred device as first class citizen. Prime Video's Checkout Experience team is looking for a manager to lead the team who are working on creating delightful Checkout experiences for customers who want subscribe for Prime, TV Channels or to Rent/Buy the hottest movies and TV shows from yesterday and today.


Key job responsibilities
We continue to grow rapidly as we expand to new markets and devices, launch new products and experiences. We have ambitious plans to innovate signups on all devices and in all marketplaces, including many high-profile launches in 2022, and to be the customer-preferred platform to enjoy live events (Premier League, NFL, NBA). As an SDM, you will work with the team and stakeholders to drive Checkout Experience on Web, Mobiles, Fire TV and Alexa devices. You will lead a team of London-based engineers. The team owns full stack including frontend of FTV, mobiles, Alexa and Web and backend services including new AWS services.


A day in the life
You will work with product and program managers globally to identify the right opportunities that your team should focus on. You collect input from multiple sources to make a collective decision with your team about the right priority and trade-offs . You work closely with the team to set the forward looking architectural vision that enables this team to deliver rapidly on behalf of our customers and can scale for millions of customers by expanding on additional devices and in locales without any customer impact. You will represent your team's progress in regular management status update meetings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience working directly within engineering teams.
· Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
· People management experience, managing engineers.
· Experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent work experience
· Computer Science fundamentals
· Highly proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl and/or Python programming languages
· Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimisation, resiliency, availability and exception handling
· Evidence of working with object-oriented development and design patterns
· OS fundamentals and systems architecture
· Cloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architectures
· Experience working with Agile methodologies and using Agile practices
· Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills
· Solid written and verbal English communications skills
· Ability to work effectively cross-group and great passion for team collaboration

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Extensive knowledge and experience with Java and React development
· Experience building complex distributed software systems including front-end that have been successfully delivered to customers, and are sustainably maintained and supported
· Knowledge of professional best software engineering and DevOps practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding quality standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and automation, chaos testing, deployment and pipeline management, service readiness and operations, maintenance and support
· Experience with AWS infrastructure and services
