Amazon is investing heavily in building a world class advertising business. Our team is responsible for ensuring that the adverts that we serve to customers meet the same high quality bar that amazon holds for all our customers.

We're looking for outstanding candidates to join us as full-time Software Development Engineers in our friendly, international team in central Edinburgh. You will work as part of an Agile team to own the automation of policy, quality, and content checks on hundreds of thousands of adverts. As an engineer, you will be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at scale.

We're looking for engineers who can delight customers by continually learning and inventing, and have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work on projects that span the whole of Amazon Advertising, with teams worldwide. Successful candidates won't only work as the protectors for our customers, they'll also be motivated to build using the latest technologies, our stack is using the latest serverless technologies like Lambda and Fargate and many components that we rely on heavily came from the innovations driven by team members like ElasticSearch & Rekognition.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer Science Honours degree or postgraduate study (in lieu of degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience).
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Non-internship professional software development experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimization.
  • Object-oriented development and design patterns.
  • Automated testing, refactoring, source control management, continuous integration.
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Good Linux/UNIX knowledge, including command-line tools and scripting
  • Knowledge of databases including SQL, noSQL, schema design and indexing/optimization
  • Experience working with cloud computing to build large-scale and high-availability distributed systems.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
