Within Amazon Video, the Subscription Retention team is responsible for ensuring that our customers always get the best value for their subscriptions and that we make them aware of the value proposition.
Today we build systems that engage with customers when a customer decided to cancel their subscription. We give customers promotional offers, ability to set cancellation reminders and a deep understanding of what they will lose if they proceed to cancel.
We now aim to build systems that will help us understand and predict customer behaviour. We will use those models to personalize the experience for customers when they want to manage their subscriptions or even before they decide to cancel.
We are a full stack team who work on data modelling technologies, middle tier services and customer facing experiences for web, living room devices (smart TVs, gaming consoles etc.) and mobile apps (iOS, Android) to our customers in 200+ countries.
We are seeking software developers to build the technologies and the customer facing experiences that will help customers keep their subscriptions.
This job will challenge you on various fronts. You will solve technical challenges in optimization, large-scale computing, distributed systems, scalability, security, and algorithms as well as work across unified tech stack that can power various client devices such as smart TVs, gaming consoles, Web and mobile devices. You will drive future solutions that will impact how we run Amazon Video worldwide by collaborating with many teams.
You should have an established background in launching distributed and/or web services for consumer-facing products, ideally experience with UX technologies such as React, a strong technical ability, excellent organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a rapidly changing environment, and, of course, a real passion for TV and film!

Key job responsibilities
You will engineer customer facing systems that give our customers the most compelling reasons to stay with their Video Subscriptions. You will work with partner teams and stakeholders to ensure your tech designs look around the corners, integrate well with your dependencies and can handle the scale at which Amazon operates!
A day in the life
You will work with Product owners to understand the customer experience we want to build and work on defining the prioritization of product features. You will own the tech design for which you will work within your teams and your partner teams to make the right tech decisions including trade-offs that build idempotent systems at Amazon’s scale. You will participate in reviewing design docs put forward by others while also soliciting inputs from wider senior engineering forums on your designs. You will translate your design documents into crisp working backwards plans which you will then execute by building actual customer facing systems. You will learn about every service that your team owns and participate in troubleshooting and mitigating customer impacting interesting problems that the team uncovers.
About the team

We are a full stack team who work on data modelling technologies, middle tier services and customer facing experiences for web, living room devices (smart TVs, gaming consoles etc.) and mobile apps (iOS, Android) to our customers in 200+ countries.
· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· Bachelor's degree in computer science related fields OR equivalent experience in software development
· Hands-on expertise in diverse technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between.
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience building systems of scale
