We are looking for Software Development Engineers to join the Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) Commerce. We enable the renting and buying experience for movies and TV shows worldwide, manage and store titles customers have rented or purchased, and maximize the value of customers video library. We engage customers with relevant and personalized TVOD offers, promotions, and bundles at competitive prices; making it simple for customers to purchase content; and manage their video libraries. We see an opportunity in introducing existing Prime customers to TVOD as well as using TVOD to be introduced to Prime and other Amazon products.
Candidates will have an understanding of stable, scalable systems that have been successfully deployed in a business setting. You will be passionate about technology with a focus on the customer experience and great teamwork.
You will work as part of one of our small Agile teams, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon's global business. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

Key job responsibilities
As an SDE I, you will own the end-to-end design, implement, and operations of software features and services; work closely with other engineers, Product and Program Managers, stakeholders across Prime Video; continuously help us improve our engineering practices and software quality; help promote an inclusive team that celebrates the diverse experiences and skills that each person brings; and help us build the best rent and buy experience.
A day in the life
A typical day involves attending standups and other sprint ceremonies; discuss architectures, designs, and operations; using data (CS contacts, reviews, and metrics) to help understand our customers and what they want better; engaging with senior engineers and stakeholders as we build the best TVOD experiences for our customers.
About the team
The TVOD Commerce team is responsible for the renting and buying experience in Prime Video. We are a group of engineers and Produce Managers who love to build great experiences that help connect customers with the content they love, from the latest blockbuster film or hit TV show to the classics.
We focus on making the right long term decisions for our customers, and we believe in building in a sustainable way. There are the occasional late night or early morning, but those are very much the exception. We celebrate the diversity that each person brings.
· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· Bachelor's degree in computer science related fields OR equivalent experience in software development
· Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
· Proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C.
· Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimization.
· Evidence of working with object-oriented development and design patterns.
· Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal English communications skills.
· Experience with one or more of JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, Python.
· Some expertise in disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
