Key job responsibilities
Our engineers will work with back and front-end applications. Spring MVC using Java is primarily used for the backend applications, whilst Javascript (jQuery, Vue.js), HTML and CSS are used for the front-end applications; you will also get to work across a wide range of AWS technologies.

A day in the life
From the final live season premiere of Game of Thrones in Japan, to the biggest Bundesliga games in Germany; from the Superbowl in the US and Mexico, to the Love Island finale in the UK; the Live Linear Playback and Integration (LPI) team supports the delivery of live television channels to Customers globally; and Amazon’s aim, to provide them with an unrivalled selection of live content.

Our London SDE team owns the capabilities which enable Prime Video to launch more channels faster. The tools this team build will be at the centre of our orchestration processes, integrating with services across Prime Video to streamline signal ingestion, infrastructure deployment, playback testing and cost optimisation.

About the team
The team is chartered to design large scale systems that deliver Prime Video to massive audiences globally, and you will help bring customers' live streaming video experiences to a new level. You will develop services running on Amazon's cloud computing infrastructure (AWS) and have opportunities to interact with teams globally, inside and outside the organisation; plus, to work on a variety of video devices such as the Kindle Fire, Fire TV, Fire phone, game consoles, Internet-connected TVs, BD Players, set-top-boxes, and mobile devices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· Non-internship professional software development experience
· Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with critical, 24x7 systems
· Experience with high throughput, multi-threaded systems
· Experience developing web services, or other large scale distributed systems, that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
· Experience mentoring engineers
