Job summary
Blu Age (an AWS company) is looking for experienced engineers to help us define and build the future of legacy applications modernization. We are working on an exciting service in the analysis, refactoring and deployment of legacy applications (https://aws.amazon.com/mainframe-modernization/).

As a member of this new service, you will work alongside outstanding engineers and leaders who obsess about performance, availability, scalability and durability of customer data. You will be developing features that solve customers' real world problems. You will be solving technical problems at a large scale, using microservices, distributed systems, and Web technologies. As a member of this team, you will have strong ownership over the design, implementation and operation of a complex mainframe modernization system. You will have the opportunity to work closely with an agile team that ships often, and see the impact your code has on a wide range of customers.

Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building & operating high performance systems at scale. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and are able to bring order to ambiguous scenarios. Maturity, impeccable judgment, and the ability to influence and lead are essential to success in this role. You can clearly & effectively communicate (written as well as verbally) across organizations and up to senior leadership. Experience in the mainframe industry is helpful but not required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* 5+ years of professional software development experience
* 3+ years of programming experience with Java
* 2+ years of programming experience with a web technology (React or Angular - Typescript)
* 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
* Knowledge of CI/CD, Pipelines, Containers, Build and packaging automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* 2+ years experience building software that handle big amounts of data
* Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance and scalability
* Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers in all aspects of their engineering skillsets
* Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
* Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
* Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
* Proficient level in French
