About the role:
Amazon Software Developers are responsible for devising and growing innovations for Amazon around the world. Several small teams of developers, designers and leaders run major parts of Amazon’s business, technology and operations.


As a Software Developer Apprentice, you will work with cutting-edge technology, as you will help develop critical products for our customers, and offer excellent technical support. Developers at Amazon work on real world problems on a global scale, own systems end-to-end, and help influence the direction of our technology that delights hundreds of millions of customers around the world. As a software Developer Apprentice, you will be on a 48 month fixed term contract working with our software teams in one of our offices based in Cambridge.


You’ll also gain a whole range of useful experience and skills while working on the Software Developer Level 4 apprenticeship standard in first year and then going on to the Digital and Technology Professional Degree Apprenticeship.

You will build your skills over a 48 month period - starting in September which will help you develop personally and professionally across the 4 years. You will gain knowledge via :
· Classroom based training hosted offsite,
· On-the-job training ,
· Online learning,
· Mentoring from our Software developers.

Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data analysis and problem solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. By specializing in software development you will learn to design, build and test high-quality software solutions. You will be aiming to apply engineering principles to all stages of the software development process, from requirements, analysis and design, development and data requirements.


On successful completion will you receive invaluable learning, development and professional experience, you will also gain a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions Professional and you will then be ready to apply for roles in Amazon across the globe.

What we are looking for

Due to the nature of this role, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a keen interest and passion for in IT and technology, particularly within Software Development.

· You can follow a list of guidelines and instructions (verbal or written) to deliver results and meet deadlines
· You have a can-do attitude, flexible, adaptable and proactive
· You are a hard-working, focused individual who thrives as part of a team but can also work independently when required. Furthermore, you must have a strong desire to learn, develop and grow as an individual in both a personal and professional sense.
· You seek and respond well to feedback
· You aim to attain impeccable customer service, excellent customer facing skills
· You have attention to detail and have good oral and written communication skills.

Candidates should be 18 years or over and have the right to live and work in England. You have a good fundamental understanding and experience of coding either certified or self-taught. You have ability to think creatively and apply analytical and problem solving skills, driving issues to resolution and also should have a deep interest in software development and strong willingness to learn.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Academic qualifications

· 3 A levels including a STEM related subject or equivalent
· 5 GCSE including English and Maths or equivalent

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has little professional software engineering experience and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a software or computing degree.
